I watched a video of the M240i and noticed it had a trunk release button on the driver door pockets. I think it was a 2022.

My 2023 doesn’t have that button. Did they move it somewhere or just got rid of it? Will unlocking the doors with the engine on let someone open the trunk by pressing the button at the back?

My 2023 has it on the driver's side door panel.

This could be something that differs between US and ROW builds.

UK 2023 has no button.

Remember the car locks as you drive off so the boot is also locked

Ah. My car is “Euro Spec” which explains why mine has no button. Such a weird omission though! How much could they possibly be saving by bifurcating the spec that way?

Weird, and weird that UK cars miss out somehow. Australia gets Euro spec cars (and right hand drive like the UK) and mine has the boot release button on the driver's door like the others. It's an Oct 2022 build with the MY2023 updated screen and engine. It's a 230i so it comes with Comfort Access, but I don't see why that would make a difference.

To answer your other question a bit, there's a setting that specifies whether just the driver's door and fuel cap unlocks, or everything unlocks including the boot. See Page 78 of the manual.
