Goodbye my friends!

After some back and forth over a week I decided to cancel my M2 deposit (Crystal lake BMW in IL) So you might be asking what'd you get. I ended up getting a 6 speed Golf R 2023 in black. It has more features then the M2 shockingly, decently keeps up with it and all its a missing is rwd and that beautiful brown leather. Anyways I didn't want to ghost that one guy that wondered where I went but that's where I went. my ultimate deciding factors were wait time and price. the R cost 53k +TTL and was available same day while the BMW was about 14k more. Anyways , fun knowing ya!

4 cylinder FWD-biased car seems like a downgrade, but I digress. Never thought of the M2 and Golf R as like for like. Enjoy your new ride.

Ok, it may be 350 - 400 pounds lighter...but it keeps up with the M2? *scratches head*

That’s my end goal lol. Once my wife’s 7.5 GTI running out of Warranty I’m going to convince her for the Mk8 R as well. It would be our practical car in the garage!

Congratulations!

The Golf R is in a different league from the G87 performance-wise. They are not comparable. Saved $14k, so it doesn’t have to be.

Thanks for going out of your way to post that. Good bye.
I just bought a RTX 4090 (Sarcasm) which saved $67k instead of an M2 and I get more FPS.
BTW my roommate is selling his 2012 Golf R Stage 3 APR with 60k miles.

Congrats. Golf R is fun to drive. With stage 2 tune, you'll run 0-60 under 4s.

That’s funny. I’m selling my 2012 Golf R 6speed, all stock though, low mileage.

Yeah it's sad during the COVID pandemic it was worth more than twice as much.

COVID was unique. Bought my F87 June 2020 for 9% under MSRP. Sold it a year later for about 9% over MSRP.

That is amazing and congrats! This was sold during the pandemic which my roommate paid 24 grand for and shipped back to the US. Now he's trying to get rid of the Golf R for a boring daily EV.

Nothing wrong with saving money. Plus you get a practical, fun, and surprisingly upscale little car. My wife has a 7.5 GTI and I love it. Obviously it's in a different league than a G87 but who cares? You got a car you wanted and you got it now.

Yessir, It has a surprising amount of features for being a VW. I do still think what if I kept my G87 deposit but I couldn't wait a minute longer! I still cant fathom this golf has vented seats but the M2 doesn't. Weird if you ask me.
