Tuning

Will stage 1 power output end up being equivalent to a stage 1 tuned M3/M4? Or will the M2 still be lower output with a basic tune?

I assume you are comparing with base G80/82. Yes but the specifics depend on who is doing the tuning* and what other mods you have done or will be doing.

*If you are talking about s piggyback, please disregard my response. That is not a true tune and I prefer not to comment further on them.

I typically like to get a reputable stage 1 tune with everything else stock, not talking about piggybacks. I guess my question is there anything on the engine side preventing the M2 from having the same stage 1 output or is it strictly tuning. For example the 4.0 in the 718 GTS is mechanically identical to the GT4 4.0, but Porsche intentionally detuned the GTS by 20hp. However if you tune both motors, you end up with exactly the same numbers.

Ok...key factors that I personally don't have answers to that may limit one way or the other are stock fuel pumps, exhausts and injectors on the G8X models (I am comoareibg base G80/82).

More accurate answers should be available in the not so distant future...

Right. We know everything inside the block is the same, as are the oil coolers. (I'd be a bit surprised if they used alternate injectors or HPFPs/LPFPs, it seems cheaper to just reuse all that from the G8x. But we don't know for a fact.)

The exhaust routing seems different, it will be good to know more.

Only way to be 100% sure is to try it. I plan to flash tune my car but not int the first year of ownership. It's good to take the time to know the stock car first.

I assume he meant - getting to know the car bone stock first, enjoy it for a while...then tune when you get the itch for more.

Some of us get the itch sooner than others!

Not until people start posting dyno charts of the respective cars in question.

State 1 Tune that won't void BMW warranty

Can anyone recommend stage 1 ECU tune with the ability to set to bypass back OEM. On my F32 I have Dinantronics and can set from S1 to S4, or bypass and put back to OEM. When I take in for service, I always reset to bypass. Also, if you do an ECU tune, does BMW void warranty? years ago that's the only reason I got Dinan. Now it's owned by private equity and things have gone to shit.

My G87 order should go into production in September.

FYI, with S4, Dinan replaced intercooler and big turbos. They said nothing of charge pipes. The OEM charge pipes on my F32 fell off, then finally cracked. Replaced with Evolution Raceworks Charge pipes.

Do you mean the ability to go back to stock power?
If so, all tuners do that. the first map on every tuner is the stock map

Your warranty is not affected by your tuner as long as you don't break anything.
All your scheduled work will be serviced without any issues, all warranty repairs not related to your tuner will be done without any issues either.

But don't expect the dealership to replace your engine if you have a tuner.

That's why its important to choose a proven brand and the recommended maps only. Don't use an overly aggressive map, its not worth it.
