Different front springs for manual vs auto

I was doing some digging into the suspension components for the new M2 and noticed there are two different part numbers for the front springs for each transmission option. It's interesting that there is only one front spring for both auto and manual G8X M3/4. I remember back in my Mk6 GTI days the auto had stiffer springs to help with the added weight of the DSG, wonder if it's the same case here or what the difference actually is.

Here is the online catalog for reference if anyone else wants to poke around: https://parts.bmwnorthwest.com/BMW_2...Automatic.html

That would be weird to change springs over 55lb difference located in the center of the car. Good find though.

BMW also had two different part numbers for springs on the F87 with DCT and with MT. Don't know what the difference is between PNs but it's not anything new.

That's some good investigating Sherlock!! (could help myself)

I dare say most people will be switching out for aftermarket springs given the ride height. Some of them, like MSS just use one spring across all G8x and even G4x cars...madness
