CF Mirror Overlay versus Caps

hi folks, I accidentally purchased CF mirror overlays versus mirror caps for my g87. haven’t received the car yet but wondering if there is a drastic difference between the two? overlay is a stick on obviously versus the caps being clipped on and relacing the existing housing.

don’t have previous experience with this and not sure if it looks cheap. i don’t want to cheap out on a 70k purchase but the return for the overlay is complicated.

thanks for your advice and thoughts on this.

It’s definitely good quality for what it is, without a doubt. I’m less worried about this product but more bummed out it’s gonna look low end. Wouldn’t have given it much thought if it was my civic si.

I'd personally send them back and get actual caps.

Depending on what color your car is, the overlays may let some of the original colored cap show, depending on fitment.

Maybe just lay them over the current cap and check? It would drive me nuts if I had a (for instance) red car and I could see the original cap behind the overlay.

I went with full caps on my Champagne Quartz F80 for that reason, but also because they (IND) had the option of 1x1 weave CF to match the weave of the CF roof.

Yes, that’s what i’m worried about most. My car will be red, and it will be super tacky to have the original housing even slightly visible. I’ve decided to return this, just a total PITA return process with the guys I got it from.

Would these not be more knickable ? as I know some carbon mirrors are targeted by thief’s scumbags
