Bimmercode G87 iDrive 8
I know Bimmercode doesn't official support idrive 8 yet, but I figured it would work on some things, and I was right. I chose "M3" and it gave me the options I was looking for, like changing interior lighting, 5 flashes of the turn signal, brake force for extra brake light, warning screen, etc.
There's plenty of other tutorials out there about Bimmercode so this isn't a tutorial at all, just mentioning that it works with our cars in some limited capacity. And a warning. For the head unit module, following coding and when it was resetting the ECU, both the app and my phone went a little haywire for some reason, but all was OK. Basically, I disabled all connections to the car such as bluetooth and even wifi on my phone. When rebooting from this module, the car reenable the bluetooth connection itself in my phone so my phone started trying to reconnect to everything which caused the app to malfunction. I forced stopped it, shut off the car, disabled bluetooth for the car again, reconnected, and all was well. Perhaps that happens with any car, but just mentioning it here since Bimmercode doesn't officially support idrive8 yet. That being said, everything I wanted worked. A shot of the modules that came up. Ambient lighting control. Although in the app the default is "bronze," this worked with the "ivory" selection in my car." I set upper to normal blue and lower to red, and it worked. Just to show you the colors. Here I'm selected to ivory and you can see the blue. And red at my feet.

Oh ok sitting here now they're bimetallic. When you're moving, the wheels spin so they look black. And that pic is blurry.

Wait I'm not sure I did anything to make it say charging. That may be normal adaptive content for that screen in driving mode.
Can anyone confirm?

Anti-Dazzle is possible, I’ve come across a Bimmercode how to video on YouTube. Can’t search right now, but the truth is out there…

If it's not normal then I messed something up because I can't get it to stop doing it now, even when loading the default backup. That's what I get for messing with something that isn't ready. It's the only anomaly I've seen though, if it's not normal.

Yeah there's a video out there but I haven't tried it. I'm probably done messing around until it's ready for idrive 8.

If that's the case then this could be normal, because it switches to "charging battery" only when engine braking when I think of it. It just so happened that sometimes I was using the brakes as well when slowing down.

Ok I'm convinced that "charging battery" is normal and part of the efficient dynamics BMW has had for a while. I even found F generations displays showing when it was charging and such.
On our idrive 8 display, with dynamic content enabled, it'll show a cool animation when charging. That said, it's a bit annoying if you leave it up because the changing of letters between "my BMW" and "charging battery" make you want to look at it. This changes if you use "sport" mode displays because the dynamic portion will be horse power and torque.

Heard back from bimmercode, they are working on idrive8.
Edited to add that they said they have an idrive8 system in house.

Just discovered these tire settings. Let's you pick the two factory options for sizes. It sure would be nice if bimmercode could add other sizes and adjust whatever it is these settings adjust.
Sorry for shit photo.

Another thing I wish/hope it can do is auto engage the parking brake, at least for manual cars.

I can confirm the “charging” is normal. It is on modern BW’s even without hybrid or electric drivetrains. What occurs is that the alternator goes into a higher charging mode when you are decelerating, that’s it. Completely useless information on ICE cars. My 2013 X3 does the same thing but in semi-analog fashion. Ignore it.
