Hey all, looks like I'm probably the first(or one of the first) to try this, but just talked to Bavsound and I've ordered their full sound system upgrade for the G87.

After only a month with the stock subs and the meh speakers, I'd had enough and opted for this relatively cheap essentially plug-n-play kit.

Will update more once it arrives, and do my best to document the install as best as possible.

VERY excited for better bass. Heard very good reviews from my friends with their HK to Bavsound upgrades on their BMW's.

My Bavsound for my E46c came with 2 bad rear speakers. I got it during COVID and they sat in my garage for months, by the time I got around to putting them in it was too late to do anything about it. The front speakers sound great!

That car definitely needed an upgrade has it had the standard hi-fi. You must be a serious audiophile to want to upgrade the G87 already.

Is the kit all the speakers (including under the drivers seat) and the sub? How much?

Definitely looking forward to your experience with this. Someone has to be first! I thought the stereo sounded pretty good but I may not know what I'm missing.

So definitely not a serious audiophile, if I was I would’ve definitely fitted different speakers, but these are supposed to be 100% plug and play, and the bass on the new M cars is so terrible, and the speakers are meh compared to what I had on my 2015 Mustang GT (Shaker Pro w/ factory sub).

But the bass was the real kicker that made me have to purchase these, all said and done, the ENTIRE bundle with every speaker being replaced and the subs, AND their tools, was $1600 after tax and shipping

Really looking forward to hearing your impressions. Been waiting for someone to make the install on this generation of 2 Series. I find that the HK system is decent, but it still leaves a lot to be desired compared to the ELS Studio 3D system in my previous Acura. Maybe the Bavsound upgrade will close the gap!

I'm also curious about your results. I am a worried that the only solution for Bass is a dedicated sub in the trunk. I just might do that first, then decide if I want to upgrade the rest.

Should be coming in this week right after the BMC filters arrive. Next will be wheels and tires for weekends and track days

Okay so the kit finally arrived, will add photos tonight when I get home. I ordered the full kit so it’ll be all the speakers, the two underwear subs, and the toolkit

I have a question someone may be able to answer. On the HK system, where are the speaker locations? It looks like there is a place for speakers in the back seat, but are these empty? Bavsound doesn't have speaker locations listed, or maybe I'm missing it.

Bav sound doesn't put any speakers in the back seat area, but bimmertech puts 2 tweeters there. Both companies put speakers and tweeters in the back deck. Anyone pulled apart their G42/82 and found out?

Here’s everything laid out, all in all really happy with the packaging. These came in two boxes.

Pictured left to right on bottom are the foam gaskets, adhesive, clips, screws, and toolkit.

Then the 5 Silk dome tweeters, with the 3 midrange drivers underneath, next to that the 4 Neodymium midranges, with the 2 8” underseat subwoofers.

That’s definitely the plan, gonna take my time on a day off so I can take pics along the way.
Forums saved my wallet back in the day with my e92 335i, so time to at least attempt to pay it forward haha

Thanks for y'all's patience, this has been slightly delayed as dropped off my M2 for break-in service, the nav error fix, and waiting to get it back next week as it's getting XPEL ppf put on right now

Did you install the speakers? If so, how does it sound? Was the install challenging? I have heard that some speaker covers may be glued on.

How do you like the PPF? Did you get the regular or stealth? Do you get ceramic coating on top of the PPF?

Hey you're good man, and will be installing soon, just had a lot of life stuff come up slowing me down but I guess that was for the better as Bavsound finally got some good install videos up for the new 2 series chassis.

I got the regular XPEl, its been solid, did not do ceramic on top, after washing it a couple times I probably would recommend doing the ceramic as well, would help keep it cleaner, but being the light blue it looks clean for so long.

Were you seeing the install videos for the G42/G87? Can’t seem to find them on YouTube or Bavsound’s website.

Good luck on your install. I was looking into this for my wife's X5. Most people on the X5 board said it is a pretty straight-forward install, but that the covers to the sub's (or another speaker) may be glued on (so that required a little extra work). Many on the board recommended buying new door card clips because those broke pretty easily on the X5.

In addition, most seemed to like the results. Some seemed to require more and installed new amp(s).
