Clarification on port installed M lowered springs and alignment.

If one opts for the lowered M suspension as a port-installed option, will it show up ready for action? IE, aligned, dialed in, and ready for greatness?

I've read all the threads, and have seen some dealers demand payment for an alignment job. It's kind of crazy to imagine ordering a factory performance part and it being installed out of spec (alignment off), and then having to pay to have it set up properly.

Surely the port can align the car after install, right? Or if not, surely the car comes with a note for the dealership to finish the job when it arrives?

Still trying to decide whether or not to add this ti my order.

No, the car has to be delivered with the suspension set to factory specs/alignement during the PDI.

If the suspension is modified at port, it still needs to pass the PDI. One call to BMW NA will cower the dealer that does not do this.

Hence being delivered lowered to only 10mm.

My dealership had to go to NA to have them manually add it. Wasn't that easy, I was just persistent and didn't take no for an answer.

If your CA is any good he’ll put in the effort to get it done. Or you could just tell him to look up how to do it on Bimmerpost.

Tell your sales person to call BMA NA and have them add the Z58 package to your order.

Two thoughts:

1. The instructions BMW provides for the parts clearly indicates that alignment should be completed as part of the MHAS installation.

2. If the VPC entirely missed that step, it's the responsibility of the dealership to ensure the car is delivered according to specifications, and that includes the alignment.

I'm going to ask my CA today when my car goes into PDI.

Something to keep in mind, for anyone lowering more than the port's setting, you will need to get another alignment after lowering it.

They will need to have BMW NA manually add it. If they said they sis it, make sure they provide you with an updated order sheet to show its on there.
