How do you use your M2?

Curious to know what kind of car the M2 is in your line up. Is it your daily? Fun weekend car? Grail car? Hard-to-label car?

For me, my wife and I (mostly her) use it as our daily driver. We take our 16 month old to daycare in it every day. We take it on weekend trips to upstate NY and DC. It hauls groceries and rips back roads on weekends. It truly does it all for us and we love it.

And for those who are considering using the M2 for kiddo duty, it works well. We use a rotating car seat to have our little guy rear facing and he loves it. Plenty of space in the passenger seat with the car seat behind. However, having a rambunctious 16 month old in the back sure does lead to a constant mess in the car. Gold fish, water, blueberries, crackers, etc. EVERYWHERE!

Long story short, this car is a perfect daily for my small family.

Mine will be a daily that I use in rotation with my other daily cars. Prolly drive it one or twice per week to work, depending how I feel each morning when I wake up.

Hmmm I'd call mine "hybrid" use in that I'm attempting to drive it as much as possible sort of as a daily but I don't drive it to work. And I only drive it Aprilish to Octoberish. I have a primary daily as well.

Kinda in the same boat here, besides having the daily daycare trip. Working from home as really changed the idea of a daily driver, at least for me. Just makes errands that much more fun when you can do them in a 500hp rocketship!

Weekend fun car + random errands I don’t feel like driving the Honda Passport to if the weather is good.

Full daily for me. Short commute.
Wife gave up the minivan and hauls 3 kids in a Land Rover Discovery.
Looking to pick up 90s Miata for a bit of slow car driving fast thing. I miss that a bit having learned to drive in Europe in mid 90s.

Love my Miata. Great slow car fast. One of the best shifters on the market. Good luck finding yours. Cheers!

It helps that my 12yo is obsessed with Miatas. Gonna pick one up so we can bond over it, maybe do some wrenching. Teach him to drive.
Although, he’s better than me in all aspects of driving on our sim rigs. Manual, sequential, auto, race, drift, you name it. It’s scary annoying , and I have 25y of aggressive driving experience.

Yes, pick one up! I went too long without a manual transmission in the garage and my kids now have no interest in learning to drive a manual transmission car. Wish my son was more interested. There's still hope for my youngest daughter.

If the stop sale is ever lifted, my M2 will not be a daily driver, but it will be driven often. I had a thing for the E30 back in high school--guy at school had one in 1987, in red, and it made an impression! Owned both an E36 and E39 manual living in cities on both coasts and loved it. Only burned out one clutch. I am hoping this car and the rubbery shifter will remind me of that experience, with more than double the HP. And I like the stripes in the seatbelt. Adds 5hp.

My M2 will either be my main daily driver or my only daily driver.

I'll probably keep my E90 until I've gone one full Boston winter with the G87. If the M2 handles that well, I'll sell the E90 and then the M2 will be my only car.

I also hope to do some autoX with it.

Retired so no work commute.

I have a 2nd car, a 2023 MINI JCW to use for errands.

But I find a reason to drive the M2 pretty darn often. Even if it is a run to the bookstore, restaurant or even the grocery store. In fact last night I drove to Home Depot and the car then carried my purchase home. A new mop.

It will be my daily. Home depot runs, schlepping my mtb to the trailhead (the bike fits in my 135i with the front wheel off and the car seats folded, so I assume it will fit just fine in the M2), fun weekend drives - a friend has a caymen S, and others have bikes.

Picking it up today!

Bought two bikes that fold. Have not tried the green one in either of my cars: M2 or my 2023 MINI JCW 2-door hatchback. (Bought the green bike way back in 2002 after a trial fit found it would fit folded up and with the front wheel removed in the front trunk of my 2002 Boxster.) The black bike I bought on sale from a local MINI dealer and while it folds I have never had reason to carry it in any car.

But I believe the green bike folded will fit in the M2 trunk although I believe the rear seats will have to be laid down.

My MTB is a carbon 29er hardtail, size medium - so a full size MTB. it just fits in the 135i with the seats folded, and the bike's front wheel off. I'll be verifying the fit in the M2 soon.

M2 is replacing my C7 Vette as a weekend toy. I will try to drive it more often than just weekend since it's so practical. My daily is a Model 3.

Tacoma TRD PRO is my daily, so the G87 will be my nice weather, go out to dinner, 2-lane blaster. No interest in hybrids or electrics, so I'm keeping this thing forever. Given the forlorn future of purely ICE machines, this car is too special to ever trade/sell off. If they release a final year model I can't live without, I'll keep this one for my son and simply add another!

I'm fortunate enough to not have a commute and have a job provided 21 Tacoma as a put-around town/daily vehicle and an E36 "M3" as a track toy. M2 will be the weekend cruiser to take to car shows and autocross as well as hit-up backroads.

Mine is a daily, replacing my venerable 2016 BMW 340i 6MT.

But I am hoping that the M2 will also do some duty as a weekend backroads machine to take some pressure off of my current weekend car; along with expanding the conditions for a weekend drive.

I've only driven 180 miles so far (all in one day at that), but things looks promising.

Same boat, we work from home and maybe put gas in our cars once a week. It won't be for any specific purpose but I will be finding any excuse to drive the car.
