G87 M2
08/24: engine power increases to 475hp; cosmetic changes including new wheel options. This is not the "CS" or "Competition". Skyscraper Gray, Mineral Red, Portimao Blue, and Sao Paulo Yellow could be the new colors.

There's only one M2 model with start of production in 8/24. It is still called "M2" with no suffixes, like the current one. In a very unusual manner, the torque specifications of this model differ depending on the transmission installed: 550Nm (as before) for the manual but a bump to 600Nm for the automatic.

lol what? So it would make more power than the M3/4? This goes against everything BMW has done in the past. Based on the few dyno runs people have made on this car, it does make similar power (almost identical) to the base G80/82 models. But why market it as having more power unless the 3 & 4 are making more power now too?
Will there be any hardware updates? Is this a software tune? Or is this simply reissuing the "correct" numbers?
So many questions.

My G87 already makes 470whp so I guess nothing is changing other than press material lol

BMW always underrates their figures. It will make more power.

I imagine so. The base M3/4 with MT are 473hp, this is only 2hp more. They are already increasing the power of the MY2024 LCI M3/4C xDrive from 503hp to 525hp which opens up the space. They might also increase the power of the base models as well but no confirmation on that yet.

Maybe I should just wait until 2027 so I can get the M2 CSL LCI M 55 Jahre Edition

But really I wonder if the power bump is just going to be from a different tune on the same engine or if it's the addition of a 48v mild hybrid system like some are speculating. If it's just a reflash maybe they will release the update to the older models, one can dream.

they will probably bump power figures across the model lineup into the M3/M4 as well. simple flash tune and no hardware changes.

they have to keep making changes to cars across the model lineup to keep their primary customer (people who lease) coming back and getting new ones.
