G87 DME Unlocked & Flash Tuned - Bootmod3 Stage 1

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Finally got my DME back from Femto. The process went smooth and took 13 days start to finish.

Before I flashed the stage 1 tune, I got some 0-60 & 60-130 times with the dragy.

Even stock, I had trouble finding a good stretch of pavement where I could get traction for the 0-60 times (around 4.5s)

60-130, my best time was 10.03s -stock.

After I flashed the stage 1 tune, it became pretty apparent that traction is going to be the biggest issue when chasing horsepower (wish we got xDrive )

Overall, pretty happy with how the car is performing for just a stage 1 OTS tune. I was able to take off more than 1 second on my 60-130 times but 0-60 was negligible because of traction.

The car definitely feels faster than my M3 Comp. So I’m curious what the dyno will tell.

I understand that unlocking the DME and tuning the car isn’t for everyone. So no need for negative comments

As always, happy to answer any questions!

Having just got the car yesterday and not being able to go over 5k, I can’t understand why one would need more power in a street capacity. Granted, I’m impressed with your continued quest. Not to mention the skills to harness this beast you’re creating. That’s beyond my skill set. I’m happy for you and excited to continue watching your build, even if it resembles a monster.

What are you doing to address traction first?

Didn’t he tell you? He’s taking the X-Drive off the M3. And the Ventilated Seats.

Where are you located at some point I wanted to flash my ecm but here in ca they fail the car if it’s got a tune and the smog machine can pick up anything if it doesn’t match the calibration coding

I’m in Arizona. Hit up house of power out there in Cali and see if they can give you some insight on that being an issue.

Any concerns with the tune and increasing the torque going through the 6 speed manual? Id love to get a tune myself, but I am under the impression that BMW has the engines tuned to the maximum amount of torque the 6 speed can safely handle. Any thoughts? Has anyone proved otherwise in the m3 etc?

I would imagine you would run into some issues with the clutch. Honestly I have no idea as my M2 is auto.

You wouldn’t have to worry about smog for 5 years from purchase. After that it’s every 2 years.

How’s the power delivery in comparison? 1 and 2 feel a bit clunky but once you get on it, it’s boogies.

Any changes there? Mentioned on IG but keep up the awesome content 👏🏽

If definitely wakes up 1st & 2nd gear a bit. But once you build boost you can really notice the difference.

I’m playing around with the torque by gear on the bootmod3 app to really dial that in because launching it now with DSC off gets pretty sketchy 😂

Need better tires asap!

Haus of Power to be more specific. They’re about 10 minutes from me in Fullerton.

The traction issue (and the bumpers tbh) is what kept me from buying a g87 (trading in my g42). The s58 has so much potential, but if you want a car that tears up the road course and drag strip, xdrive is almost mandatory with an abundance of power (haus made 700+ wheel). You can make a rwd car launch, but with 3,800 lbs and a ton of torque/hp you’ll need softer rear suspension and partially deflated soft sidewall tires, otherwise they just light them up. Meh. Almost like these hellcats with their 717 horsepower, yet can’t run 10 seconds on the street. Are burnouts the game?

Yet, we got stock (pirelli) tired, stock engine, stock turbos, full weight g80 m3’s (with xdrive of course) running sub 9.5 without sacrificing anything for the twisties.
