I've been warning for years that drinking diet soda with artificial sweeteners causes anal cancer going back to the days of saccharin.....

This is a debate that dates back to the early 80's.: *YAWN* "Since 1981, JECFA has said aspartame is safe to consume within accepted daily limits. For example, an adult weighing 60 kg (132 pounds) would have to drink between 12 and 36 cans of diet soda — depending on the amount of aspartame in the beverage — every day to be at risk. Its view has been widely shared by national regulators, including in the United States and Europe." If you feed lab rats enough of anything, they will develop problems. Just like humans. If you drink that many sodas, you definitely have a dietary problem. This is true for any abuse of a product. Just my two cents. |

I think part of the issue is people with a sugar addiction will instead drink excessive amounts of Diet Coke thinking it is better than regular coke. I had a boss at a college job who literally drank 3 diet Cokes a day.

The sugar from the rum basically turns it into real coke deleting the fake sugar. You are good to go!

There are two things that one needs to know about this topic:
1. The need to proclaim "new" evidence from researchers in wanting to get published and getting government grant money despite the fact that this horse has been flogged to death several times. 2. The turf war and lawsuits between artificial and natural sweeteners that pre-dates my birth; with claims of health on both sides. BTW, I drink Diet Pepsi.™ PS: Can anyone find research on how many deaths by Aspartame since the introduction of the product. |

As I've read from another forum, this is just clickbait really.
"Current standards by actual food safety regulatory bodies establish safe consumption limits that would require you to drink between 12-36 aspartame sodas daily for you to exceed safety limits. This WHO advisory isn't doing novel research, they're recategorizing based on discredited studies and a flawed categorization system that most governmental safety organizations have criticized." |

Would have to see further research on this.
I will say i stopped drinking diet soda because I noticed it started making me crave foods I typically don’t eat like candies and other junk food. |
