Visit to BMW Group Classic, BMW Welt and BMW Museum - mega gallery
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com The last time I made my BMW pilgrimage was back in 2014 so was well overdue a visit! Anyway, I thought I would share the photos with you all below in this mega gallery / virtual forum tour. I have skipped all photos of BMW bikes. I hope you enjoy. Due to a BMW employee event being held at the BMW Welt (celebrating 100 years of BMW Motorrad / 101 years of Plant Munich), they were moving lots of cars out hence the lack of any cars in the Welt (they were being moved to make way for chairs). Finally, hello to the young American guys I met in the Welt who visit the forum. It was nice to meet you all and I hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit in Europe Lets start of with BMW Group Classic and the famous Group Classic hall where the original BMW cars were made. Photos of the hall: Mr Bean's Mini: This M4 DTM is huge! What a fantastic surprise to this McLaren F1 road car! The group has only just acquired it and it was sitting all by itself with the door open so I had a good look inside! V8 diesel:

BMW Welt:
Electric Isetta: What a stunning colour! Customer pick-up area. All were either BMW Welt cars or Munich registered cars: The M8 GC Art Car: Seating being setup: The BMW lady in this photo and I did have a giggle when the technician tried to fit the engine cover but then realised after a few attempts that he had it the wrong way round The red carpet rolled out for the event (BMW Welt closed at this point to the public): Camouflaged M3 Touring being shadowed by another M3 Touring; both came straight out of the plant.

Across the road to the BMW Museum:
What a monster! This was a really cool mock-up model of the cockpit design: Half an iX: Bond's Z8: Still race dirty: Elvis's 507 which has been fully restored by BMW Group Classic: Impressive 1/43 model car collection: Can you spot yours? The stunning BMW Vierzylinder: Plant Munich entrance: This thing keeps the grass perfectly cut. I need one of these! Some lovely Stuttgart machines around too.

Great shots. I was there in June and I see some of the cars at the Welt have changed around. I wish I had known about BMW classic...would have loved to have checked it out!
The museum is small compared to the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless. Thanks for posting. |

BMW started developing the V16 in 1987 and eventually installed it in a 750iL prototype..."

I'll be in Munich in August, are all the museums available to tour?
Welt told me to book 2 weeks in advance. What did you do?

Thanks all!

The BMW Museum is open to the public and can be visited. Please do note that it is closed on Mondays. In my experience, you do not need to book in advance and just buy a ticket either on the day from the counter or online to avoid the queues. Please remember to take a 1 EUR coin with you so you can put your bags into the lockers on the ground floor (you cannot take bags into the museum). BMW Welt is generally open everyday. BMW Group Classic is not open to the public for tours. Factory tours of Plant Munich do need to be booked in advance. Give BMW Welt a call to book your slots. Quote:
How we miss our dear friend, Dack

I’m travelling to Munich from Australia to do this pilgrimage in a couple of weeks. I’ve booked the same three tours. This has made me really excited for it. And yes, I had to book the 20 person tour for BMW Classic just to get in, but looks to be worth it. Thanks for sharing.
