Yup. I think part of it has to do with the G8x platform kind of being the king of the street right now. It’s impossible to tell from the outside if its stock or making 700+, so people want to see what it’s got

So far, it’s mainly been M5’s & Supra’s who have tried me.

One of the few reasons I'm not looking forward to owning an M. Years ago I drove a heavily modded Subaru with loud fast and furious exhaust. Everyone and their mother wanted to race. Probably my fault for having loud exhaust and the reason why I wouldn't have loud exhaust again. After that, I had a 135 and every knuckle head in an STI or EVO wanted to race me. I think at the time the American Muscle guys didn't pay too much attention to non V8 cars. That was a fun car, but definitely not an M. This will be my 4th BMW and I'm seriously considering de-badging it for this very reason. Also part of the reason why I chose a nondescript color like grey.

M5 is a formidable opponent, but Supra? LMAO. I was excited when Toyota announced that it was coming back until I saw the specs. The Supra of today is no JZA70.

As a former Evo owner, I can confirm this is accurate 😂 I stayed hunting for races in that thing.

Also, de-badging won’t do diddly with those quad exhaust tips poking out the back as a dead giveaway 😂

I don’t mind too much if people “try” me. If I’m not in the mood, I ignore them. I’m talking about the cutting off, tailgating and brake check bullshiet. Today, I’m happily traveling in the slow lane minding my own business as I appraoch my exit. M5 comes across two lanes (no blinker) into the lane next to me. He’s about 2 car lengths ahead of me, actually pauses until I’m about to pass then just cuts me off and tries to speed away. It’s this kind of uninvited crap I’m taking about. Expected from the Mopar crowd but sad another M owner feels the need to do this.

Happened to me in my STi, which was bone stock. Every a$$hat wanted to race me. Mopar, mom mobiles, corolla’s, pickups, you name it. I mean dayum! Just let a brotha drive in peace.

I don’t really notice it but that’s because most people drive like morons so that’s just their normal behavior regardless of car.

Interesting, for sure. I used to have a heavily modded LGT with all sorts of Cusco suspension mods. Car rode like it was on rails. Sold it to someone in CO when I moved to FL from NY. Owned a few more Subie manuals thru out the years, and was waiting for the next gen STi, but, alas, it’s dead. I still have a 3.6R OB that’ll serve as my daily, and the g80 will be my dinosaur with a stick.

Yea I had a Charger and Altima tailgating me and weaving in and out of traffic trying to prevoke me. I just increased my following distance the Altima went right and swiped cars stopped on the freeway and debri exploded in front of me luckily no damage for me. But if I didn’t increase it the Altima wouldn’t have been able to cut me off and just rear ended people in the right lane trying to exit.

But I’m not gonna lie if traffic isn’t horrible I have no problems punching it and leaving ass holes if theirs room for me to get around everyone safely

It has more to do with the way you drive, the way you look/sit, and any mods to the car which are all signals to other fuckbois on the road.

My stock M3 has been completely invisible in LA in the year I've had it.

Also to note...not every Altima driver cutting through traffic is trying to prove anything to you. That really is just the way they drive.

Subarus are huge in Colorado. I had a LGT wagon with 5mt. Also sold this car to a guy out of state. It was a pretty rare car actually since most wagons came with a AT. It was all motor mods and no suspension upgrades. Ran that baby on all seasons.

Why is this so true?

I mean a used 50k 2020 Supra + DP + ecutek + E40 will make as much power as a stock g80 comp and be 400 or so lbs lighter. Now it’s uncomfortable, impractical and feel like you are driving in a coffin, but they are fast not sure what’s wrong with the specs?

Those early 2000's evo's and Wrx's are like 20 years old now and have a million miles on them at this point. The only people modding them and trying to race people on the street are poor kids that can't afford a better car. These are the same goobers driving cars that look like this.

Nice. The 5mt OBXT’s were even more rare back then. A few of my buddies had them, modded with DP’s, intercoolers, all sorts of stuff. I didn’t need more power on the streets of NY, but, loved the handling that I dialed in.

I’m just hoping not every tool on the road is trying to race the M3 once it arrives. I have enough issues with a lead foot, don’t need others helping my cause!
