Wheel and Tire Protection Package
I have a new M3 on the way which I will be picking up next week. One package I'm interested in is the wheel and tire protection package. I heard these types of options are negotiable.
What is everyone paying for this particular package? |

I declined but should have got it because I curbed a wheel the first week and due to nature of the bi-color 826m wheels you essentially have to replace them since they can’t be perfectly repainted/refinished.
I believe it was offered to me for $899. I paid $1000 for a new wheel. |

The warranty would not have replaced your wheel. They would have just repaired it. Extra warranties are usually a waste of money, otherwise they wouldn’t sell them.

I'm doing it mainly for the tires. I have bad luck with tires I always get a nail or something that is irreparable. Plus I lost the tire lottery. Planning on putting some nails in (intentionally) so I can get Michelins lol.

According to this post, you can always go to a discount tire or maybe america’s tire, and get warrantied after car pickup. Tires only, though.

Skip it. Always skip it. Insure only what you can’t afford to lose - life, health, house, autos and liability. Everything else self insure. You will save tens of thousands over a lifetime. Sure you will take an occasional hit but it’s going to be far less than your premiums for insuring neglible financial risk.

They have covered 2 wheels and a few tires due to road damage and never gave me any issues. But then again, all dealers and service writers are not equal..... |

I’ve had the BMW wheel and tire coverage on all my BMW’s. I’ve used it multiple times, especially when I lived in places with a lot of potholes e.g. Atlanta
I lease my cars and have always been able to negotiate the price down to only a few dollars per month. I am sure it has on average paid for its self, but the convenience factor is the real value. Also, I have never read the small print, but I assume a tow is covered. I had a 100 mile tow on one occasion and 80 on another due to flats and didn’t have to pay (my Uber to the dealer was also covered). I would think without the insurance I would have had to pay…

For those that have bought the package please include what you paid. This will potentially be my first time purchasing it and want to know what's a fair price to pay.

Yes you can negotiate. Since I didn’t win the tire lottery, I opted to get the insurance.

I took the advice from another forum member and got them to lower my interest rate if I invested in the wheel/tire insurance.

If the GF, BF, wife, non-car person, soccer mom, etc - is gonna drive your car much - then consider it.
GF/SO scrubbed one of her G01 wheels w/in first year. We already had this post I think - I'm the main one who drives my M4c Last edited by M4Lou; 07-23-2023 at 07:41 PM.. |
