Does your Home Screen default to Carplay in iDrive8?

I just noticed whenever I start the car the main screen goes right to Maps in Carplay instead of showing the standard Home screen with the list of widgets (My BMW adaptive screen, weather, music, clock, etc). I have to press the home button to get back to the Home Screen but it doesn’t t stick once I restart the car. It never did this the 7 months I’ve had the car and I went through every setting menu to find a fix. Anyone else have this “issue” or know of a fix?

No. Mine defaults to the last setting.
Are you opening the car with the phone or placing it in the charge tray?

I use the keyfob to get into the car and phone is always in my pocket.

I do recall it happening at some point during my ownership. I can’t really remember, and I’m too far from my car to to check, but it may be that you have the media settings on the phone defaulted to CarPlay. Also check how the phone connects to the car i.e. Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Mine opens to last setting.

I am absolutely sick of CarPlay/Spotify autoplaying music even though my last setting when leaving the car was FM. I can't work out how to stop it.

Untoggle CarPlay on your phone before getting in. Or download an FM app on your iPhone and set it to the station you prefer.
It should default to the last connection, but if it isn’t, the above should help.

Something wrong there, mine always remembers what was being used as the source when I last exited the car.

Mine remembers the last used app and opens it the next time I'm in the car

Even if Spotify is closed (removed from iPhone multitasking), Spotify is still triggered when the car boots up. I’m not sure what else to try without disabling CarPlay. I should have to do that!

Is it the “built-in” Spotify app that’s starting, or the CarPlay Spotify app?

I am getting the same thing but with Amazon music. Has only just started doing this in the past week so not sure if any update has caused it.
Never had this issue before and had the car almost a year now.
If there is a fix I would like to know.

It’s CarPlay, I don’t have the inbuilt app set up! It switches to Spotify at the same time my phone loads the CarPlay logo when connecting.

As per the comment above, for me the issue has come and gone a couple times.

I set up a iOS automation with the shortcut app - When CarPlay connects, music pauses. At least it doesn’t auto play now it just goes silent…

Go into Carplay settings on your Iphone, and turn ENHANCED INTEGRATION Off.

When this is on, it will always switch back to Carplay... I turned mine off, and no issues since.

Just a thought, it won’t affect Apple Maps in the instrument cluster will it?

No you can use carplay exactly as before, it just doesn't make you use it on start up...

Mine has both options checked and doesn’t start with CarPlay.

Mine only ever started up with Carplay, if I had been using it as I switched the car off. Usually whatsapp messages reading out..

I toggled the switch mentioned, to off, and now it doesn't do it, always goes to the home screen.

No luck, switching off enhanced integration still has Spotify taking over when CarPlay connects.

I don’t think I have CarPlay checked as a phone connection method in the idrive. I think I have Bluetooth/ Wi-Fi checked.

Mines opposite - CarPlay with no bluetooth.
