g87 vs g42 trunk lids

Does anyone know if the trunk lids are interchangeable im looking at getting a 240 and the potential m2 cs has a cool duck bill trunk lid just seeing if anyone knows if I could swap that on one day

I’m almost certain the G42 and G87 share the exact same trunk. The same carbon fiber spoiler fits both so that’s my reference point.

It’s the exact same trunk lid. I have a G42 carbon spoiler on my car from Autotecknic. Fit is perfect.

Okay cool this was my thought too but with the rear being so much wider I just want to see what others thought as well

I mean, the trunk lid struts say “G42” on them, every time you open the trunk you’re reminded of it.

I have seen like 3 240i like ever let alone been in one and have yet to see a new M2 so I thought this was easy enough to just ask

Oh no, it was a fair question to ask. I learned it the other day too looking at carbon fibre spoilers and that they fit.

The G42 strut inscription is just a funny anecdote.
