930M vs 963M Wheels
I recently removed a set of 963M from my spec because of the significant upcharge, roughly $6K. Let’s do a little math for grins and giggles. From the factory our cars are equipped with 930M wheels which sell for about $3030 on BMW Parts Pros. They sell a set of 963M wheels for about $3830. Both are available elsewhere for approximately the same price give or take a few dollars.
Here’s what I don’t understand, why does it cost about $6K to spec the car with 963M wheels when the market price between them and factory supplied 930M is about $1K? |

If you spec wheels that aren’t a standard option, you pay full BMW retail price for the wheels and don’t get any credit for the factory ones.
I want to put 827M wheels in gold on my car, and my CA warned me of this, and recommended I just waited until the car came in so I’d at least get the factory wheels I could sell. |

Owning a black car in California is very do-able. In Texas, the heat is just too much to bear in a black car! We have had 15 days in a row over 100 degrees. Will you buy 827M separately and keep the stock wheels?

Since the stock wheels and 827M use the same size rubber, I’m going to have them dealer installed after delivery. The downside to that is I’ll have to go in and do all the paperwork and financing, and then come back later to get the car, but will be nice to get it done. Going to see if the dealer will buy the stock wheels from me or give me credit on the purchase. They are a high volume dealer, so maybe, but haven’t had that conversation yet. Else will sell them myself.

I assume you are purchasing from a separate vendor. I hate that we can't just order them when building the car or have them installed at port. |

I already have my new wheels, and asked my CA if I could swap my 20's for 19's, so I could have a winter set for an m3. I was thinking the same logic as you that if the wheels never actually get used, what's the harm. I knew it was unlikely.

Curious to see the 827M bronze on ZB color. Not sure it would look good. Most of the pics I have seen with ZB with gold wheels are with after-market and they are a lighter shade of gold.

We’re you ever able to work something out? My dealer won’t buy back the stock wheels, so I’ll need to sell them myself. Kind of a pain.

I decided to wait for tire replacement and then do a complete wheel/tire/spacer upgrade. I can live with factory issue for a while. Maybe……… |
