Dealer markup
Should I wait 5-6 months for a 2024 build to arrive or pay 5k above msrp for a similar 2023 m2 arriving next month?

Don't pay ADM and get exactly what you want.

Thats a business decision only you can mske. If you want or need the car within a month and its worth an extra $5k, that is your answer. One thing to consider, the MY24 has a little bump in price so the net difference would be a touch less than $4k. |

A couple of days before that, I walked away from a deal at a Connecticut dealership that was supposedly MSRP but had $1300+ in BS fees attached to it. So yeah, don’t pay ADM, and don’t pay BS fees that are actually ADM.

Look, you're spending anywhere from $65K to $76K on a car, while that may be cheap to some people, for the vast majority of Americans, probably somewhere like 95%, that's still a lot of money. Get exactly what you want, spec it from scratch and when it arrives, it will have a lot more meaning to you than some car with random options that the dealer wants to offload to you and charge you $5K for the privilege.

Call around. You can find dealers who won't do ADM. You'll save money even if you pay to ship from a dealer to you due to distance. I am not paying ADM out of Richmond. And as popular as this car seems to be, I'm positive if you put a deposit down, they will call you sooner than later. My dealer had several people fall off the list ahead of me for various reasons. I thought I'd be waiting until next year, but my car is supposed to arrive later this month. This is not a GT3RS.

Exactly...its easy for everyone to say "dont pay ADM or markups" but fir each person, its their decision and for whatever reason. Of course you could get an allocation and in 3+ months have one built for MSRP but for multiple reason, some may not be able to wait nor want to wait. Its 100% each individual's choice and no right or wrong here. |

ADM is simply predatory behavior by the dealer, taking advantage of people's desire for immediate gratification. There is absolutely no value added.
My regular BMW dealer quoted me an M2 price with $5,000 ADM. I walked, not just from the deal, but from the dealer. He lost a 7-year client and reliable repeat buyer because of greed. I do not have polite words for my feelings about his behavior. Last edited by Zheeeem; 08-11-2023 at 04:58 PM.. |

I am usually one that will try and save any way I can and not over pay. When at work, if I am getting takeout I will run out and pick up lunch. There was one time I was getting subs and my assistant talked me into uusing uber eats (she says, you can pay extra and they will expedite delivey)...with the expedite fee, uber's fee and bs markups (sub place ADM?), I wound up paying $30 for a $15 sub. Have not used uber eats since, one and done for them. Others in my office have no issue paying extra to uber eats or door dash all the time. |

All the replies were appreciated and I understand why most wouldn’t pay over sticker for this car. That being said I’m sure you’ll all be happy to know I sold out lol. After considering everyone’s advice and sleeping on it, I offered 1k over sticker and we ended up agreeing on 2200 over. I could be waiting 4-6 months for the 2024 to arrive. The 2023 should be here within a month and is the literally the exact same car I customized except has live cockpit pro.
