Sup fellas - I really dig how the M performance lip looks, under the bumper, except not too keen on the weird fins that come up the side of bumper.

indifferent between carbon and not. Though carbon would match the spoiler/roof on my car well, not opposed to a cheaper black one that I'd feel better about being a "wear" item and not cringe as much as scraping an expensive hunk of carbon.

Anyone successfully find a good looking normal one to slap on?

quick google search shows, they all look pretty decent, I agree with your selection - however unhappy, but not shocked, at their cost lol. I'd take a matte black one to be honest. I presume I'm going to scrape this thing inevitably. hurts much more when its $2k

Check out AutoID's new stuff that just got released yesterday. It's pretty similar to F87 M-performance style. Much smaller winglets on front/sides.

I was also looking at the same thing for my BSM car that’s coming. Had planed on going with just the M Performance front lip and skipping the two side “wings” although after seeing the new Autoid front splitter and their version of the “wings” it looks like a real winner plus the install looks to be all factory bolts and mounting points. The autoid splitter certainly has more presence and length however it’s about $1,300 bucks shipped vs $650 for just the m performance front splitter. Let me know what you decide on?

Honestly I’m waiting for a black one as well cause my car is going to be lowered and my Mperf lip on my F82 ate sooo much shit but was black poly so it held up so good.

Ah.. well running 1 of 3 pieces of a lip would probably look super awkward. The other 2 pieces aren't just side fins, they're most of the actual lip itself.

Maybe we’re talking about two different things. In the shop Bmw site it’s the M performance front attachment in carbon fiber, middle. $643 for the middle piece. That doesn’t including the left and right side attachments. You can purchase each piece independently.

Right, but they're not supposed to be separate. It's just split into 3 pieces to fit the bumper. You definitely wouldn't want just the middle third of your bumper with a lip and the rest without. The sides are not just the fins, it makes up like half of the lip itself. The lip is 3 pieces, and it's $2500.

No, I didn’t. Serious question, not being a rude but why would they sell it in pieces then? In the photos it looks like the three splitter pieces together don’t even come together to form a continuous splitter. I think they did it so people could just order the middle section who don’t want a GT style front splitter…

I’m probably going to give it a go and if it looks like shit we can all poop on it together then I’ll go from there.

Yes, I think running 1/3 of the lip will look bad regardless of color. It’s made in 3 pieces to conform to the bumper. Not to buy part of it. A few other lips are split into 3 pieces, like AutoID’s. That doesn’t mean you should only 1 piece. If you don't like the winglets (which I also don't), don't get the lip.

The sides of the bumper stick out further (under the inlets), so they split it. If you just run the middle part it won’t even look like you have a lip, the 3 sections of the bumper will just be level. There will be no lip on like half of the bumper.



Many BMW parts have multiple SKUs that make up a single component. Like the HAS kit. But if you buy just the springs, you will have no hardware and be missing components to install it.

I looked at a picture of the center piece on a G87. IMO the large intakes overwhelm the single attachment. If I do a lip, it will be full size. YMMV.

I will shop on eBay for a front lip in the spring, once the ice melts.

Before the untimely end of my M4CX, I was gonna pull the trigger on one of two lips around $200 from m eBay.

It’s essentially a wear item so cheap replacement is key. No $2500 front lips for me.

im in this boat, too (and my car is not on one at all).

eBay is probably the way to go - subtle inch low matte black one that just looks a little cooler, and takes the brunt of the front scrapes and im in.
