What a fun to watch video. You really can't go wrong any any flavor of M2, hell, even the 1M (which is an amazingly fun car to drive BTW).
Kudos to BMW for giving car enthusiasts something to treasure.

But I find modified cars drag racing less fun, since you never know what they have… it’s hard to pitch older modified cars and make sense of what they would do.

But it was fun to watch anyway

How did he manage to get a soft limiter on the F87? Same car revved fine the second time around… I’m guessing if you rev it immediately after starting it, it has a soft limiter? I wouldn’t know because I haven’t tried it… because I’m not an idiot

My comment was based on the fact that in the real world most of us don’t launch from a standstill. On the move is where it’s at and the F87 proved that it’s lighter weight showed the G87 which car is faster.

Besides, how you can you put a manual car versus and auto? It’s obvious which will win from a standing start.

It’s all irrelevant anyways, most G87s will be running 750bhp before you know it.

At higher speed the manual G87 will have less transmission rotating losses like the F87 CS did, so it unlikely the F87 will be ahead there either.

S58 stock compared with S55 stock just seems be under rated more power wise, overcoming any weight disadvantage of the G87, not to mention the braking difference.

Overall BMW just seems to have moved the game on further then usual with the model change, especially as the base model G87 dynamics seems to be able to match or exceed the outgoing CS model.

Stock F87 CS cars trap 120mph in the 1/4, the same as the G87, so from a roll it should be a dead heat. Seems like the F87CS here has had a little more done than just dampers. That or a 50roll just happens to be the sweetspot for its gearing.

Plus we should be comparing the G87 against the F87C, at least here in the US the MSRPs are almost identical (F87C is a little more when factoring inflation), and the concept is the same (entry level S-engine car). The G87 CS will come in time to truly stamp out the F87CS.

Would've loved if the "base" F87 M2 was manual. You could tell the 1M lost just due to the gear changes. Otherwise it pulled harder than the M2
