Laser Light Retrofit Warranty Issue

Hey Guys,
Need a second opinion here, Long story short My G80 M3 X-drive didn't come with Laser lights due to supply issue at the time.

Initially I could live with it, but recently I found out that non-laser M3 will have a big hit on resell value. So I am contemplating on buying after market laser light and retrofit, I am able to source a set for $2000USD.

My question is how does the resell value of a retrofitted Laser light with warranty on Lights voided, compare to a stock Led light M3.

Any opnion is appreciated

Mileage, model year, condition and color are going to dictate your resale value. Options rarely do, unless they're major options like drivetrain. Lasers are nice to have, but even at $2k I think you're being ambitious to expect to get that much more on the secondary market when you decide to sell or trade.

If you want lasers and found them for a good price, get them and enjoy. But don't do it for resale purposes. They're more like putting in a hot tub at a house you're going to sell, not like adding a bedroom.

Might as well end the thread here!

Changing the lights won’t bump the value. The good news is they won’t likely hurt the value. Always do mods for yourself. The vast majority of mods will hurt the value unless you find the exact right person who wants the mods you’ve done. Dealers want the car as close to stock as possible and you’ll get the most leaving it stock.

Actually I would think it would hurt resale value. I don’t want somebody opening up the car and doing God knows what. And then if you have any warranty issues they’ll try to deny it if they can link it in anyway to the headlights being swapped. Having electrical issues? Oh we think it’s because somebody messed with the wiring when swapping out the lights.

So not only will swapping out for the laser lights not help your resell value, they may actually decrease it

I would be interested in doing this... are there multiple sets available at $2k? Or did you find a one off.

I’m not sure anyone would know unless you pointed it out. If you sell to a dealer they won’t care. I’m not suggesting withholding the information but if they don’t ask….
