Dinan Dinantronics X for M2 S58?

Along the similar lines of the JB4, does anyone have any info on using this on the M2? Or if one for the G87 specifically is in the works?

DINANTRONICS X - 2021-2023 BMW M3/M4
S58 Engine (A)

Thanks.

It looks like Dinan is still testing the M2 Comp tune. The M3/M4 is not listed as compatible.

Once testing is done, it will either be listed as compatible, or they will release an M2-specific tune.

Either way, I recommend waiting for Dinan's confirmation before buying it.

Dinan still need to provide the data to RaceChip so they can make the map.

I mean, why wait on Dinan, if you can buy the original from RaceChip, which is already available for the M2. It is the same HW, the same app, and likely the same or nearly the same tables on the tune.

Dinan has a history with BMW and OEM rights especially when comes to warranty and any other issues. There is a level of trust and risk. It’s your car and warranty and you have many options. Mine is Dinan for some of these reasons. Not saying any one (Dinan, Racechip, JB4, etc) is better than the other.
It’s just a choice on feeling and history tbh. My 2 cents only.

Good that you have that trust on Dinan.
Just remember that Steve Dinan doesn’t own the company anymore, and Steve Dinan on behalf of Dinan Company was talking bad things about piggyback and telling the public that it is a not a good way to tune.
But, now, they both are selling re-labelled RaceChip.
Just my 2 cents about whom you trust.

Excellent and valid points. Thank you. Perception from BMW with past relationships may still be a viable thought however.

Perhaps I will go with Racechip after all. I was just trying to be the most appeasing based on past experiences, but obviously it sounds like things have changed :/

Do any of these piggybacks come in option for either manual or automatic cars? With their claims of 100+ gain in hp, this might be over what stock clutches of MT cars can handle

I hear you, and warranty is my biggest concern.

But there is zero/none relationship between Dinan and BMW, and Dinan relabels tge Racechio and offers no warranty.

Racechop offers s 2 year $10K warranty if BMW refuses a power train claim. I know it is not much, but it is something.

I simply choose to reward tge company who:

A - developed the original system that others relabel.

B - stands behind it with a warranty at no extra cost.

How good does tge warranty work in practice? I have no idea, and hope never to find out.

You can purchase a drivetrain warranty from Carbahn.

Yes. At a ridiculously high cost.

Racechio offers it standard on every purchase.

Again, nothing against Dinan, Carbahb, Dahler. They are all good companies, and competition is good.

Welp, after far too much reading and rabbit holes of forum posts, and a few history lessons, I’ve decided on the RaceChip. I see it on r33_RGSport website but curious as why it’s not in RaceChips own site for support of the G87 S58 M2? Anyhow, order incoming thanks to all and for r33_RGSport giving me a good direction to start doing my own research on just how much things have changed over the years. Cheers all.

I think they have a short exclusivity period for US sales, having helped validate the US map.

Always good to support those helping the community.

As baron95 said.
I helped them, they helped me.
It has been the case since 2016 when they reached out to me to help out establishing US HQ.
Even today, I just got back from manning RaceChip’s booth at BimmerInvasion Los Angeles showcasing both new Application that I worked together with them, my XM and my customer’s G87 M2.

The CarBahn G8x Stage 1 Power Package has a matching factory warranty option for $1250. And installed and warrantied at BMW dealerships. Not a bad deal in my opinion if you are worried about warranty. That is the route I plan to take.

I’ll match that with RaceChip if you pay me that much.
RaceChip mapping is not as aggressive as the competitors and the private label guys mapping is even less aggressive.

No offense to them, but that kind of business is BS. Making money out of your fear.
And make sure to read through the lawyered up fine prints. You’ll be surprised.

a good question: has anyone had a successful coverage of claim by carbahn after an engine failure or major engine problem?

My research has shown no internet buzz of any kind regarding this. I'd want to hear from some owners who actually had a problem, even if it is an endless "check engine" scenario, and has the receipts to prove that it the warranty was the same as factory.

Neither have I. 600ish wheel hp from a full tune installed and does not void factory warranty....yes please. Buy the extra warranty or don't. Up to you if you want to be first to see of BMW will void your warranty repair.

I don't often see eye to eye with RG, but this is one of those uncommon moments where we're on the same page.

According to the data, the fear of failure they're capitalizing on has almost a 0% statistical chance of happening. Considering the hundreds of thousands of BMWs that have been successfully tuned over the past 16 years, it's safe to say you're essentially paying for peace of mind rather than addressing a real risk.

At the end of the day, it's your car and your decision. If you're fully aware of what you're getting into and the negligible risks involved, then more power to you. Go for what brings you joy and enhances your driving experience; no judgments here.
