Silverstone vs. Fiona Red

Hey guys. My older brother is ready to place his order for a G82 xDrive and he's going for white like mine. The problem is, he is torn between Silverstone and Fiona Red interior. He prefers SS because (he says) that the red interior is done to death, but my sister-in-law is in love with the FR since she saw it in my car. He also prefers the way the ambient lighting looks with the SS interior.

Honestly, I'm in love with my Fiona Red but I also think Silverstone would be a good choice for his Frozen Brilliant White (I have Alpine). FYI, he does NOT like any of the other leather colors available.

I have ss and would not pick it again unless you like to detail the interior monthly, going with any darker color next time.
But everyone loves it...

I prefer red over any other option. But he should get what he wants.

Can always get black?
Red is very bright I could not imagine every day driving red interior. If I see a car with it. It’s like oh cool whatver. But I could not tolerate it daily. I got Tartufo. But black is nice too especially with white exterior.

It all comes down to personal preference, but SS and FR are my two favorite options and what we narrowed our choice down to. My wife preferred the SS, but eventually agreed to get the FR on our G83 because of the cleanliness factor.

On a white exterior I would choose FR to give more contrast. I like the extra black alacantra strip on the SS and wish the FR had it, but to me the red gives a white vehicle more depth. The dealership sales manager also mentioned that FR would have a slightly better resale value when we were trying to decide.

Good luck and both will look great.

I initially ordered a M4 with Fiona Red. I ended up purchasing a M3 off of the showroom with the silverstone full leather interior and I absolutely love it! I was worried about maintenance of such a light color and so I had the interior ceramic coated. So far so good. I have the red/black interior on another car and I absolutely love it also. Don’t believe those who say that you’ll get tired of the red/black combo. You can’t go wrong either way.

Stains/marks are very hard to get out of the leather, even with leather cleaner I cannot get certain marks out.

I hate silverstone. It gives me a headache and doesn't have the cool factor like FR or KO.

I had SS full leather over SS in my F80. It looked really nice. However, I wouldn’t get it again. More importantly, I don’t think it would look good on white, but Fiona would really pop.

My G80 will be Fiona or tartufo.

I vote silverstone, but either will be great. The red will pop and be more sporty. The more monochrome silverstone look will be classy. Individual preference.

Did you coat it? I have had light interiors since 2005 and will never go back.

I had the full Silverstone leather in my G80. I had all the leather surfaces ceramic coated by my detailer and over the 21 months I had the car it was fairly easy to maintain. It does show dirt pretty easily and somes could be rather stubborn the get any marks off the leather but overall I don’t regret the decision to go with it even when having kids in the car all the time. I will also add that it really did help brighten up the interior, especially with not having a sunroof.

All that being said, it is hard to say no to Fiona Red and I would have definitely optioned that if my exterior color would have been a bit better of a match for it. Although I am surprised to see that the Fiona Red interior does in fact work decently well with Twilight Purple as there is a least one of them optioned like that out there in the wild.

This right here. I had full SS in my 2018 F82 and it got yellow over time, even though I took excellent care of it. Silverstone really makes the interior feel classy and spacious, but it's a headache. My brother will NOT be getting the carbon buckets, so keeping Silverstone sport seats clean would not be fun over time.

While I do agree the SS looks more classy, I never get tired of my Fiona. My brother is in his mid 50's but prefer's a sporty vibe. I let him drive my G82 around for a while for him to settle in with the Fiona interior, hopefully it'll convince him!

It absolutely should not have gotten yellow. What were you using to clean it?

I've had BMW Oyster, Porsche Pebble and Chalk and Tesla White never had them turn yellow.

This stuff works very well to blend in small blemishes, etc.

Had never used it before, but I’m a fan.

It wasn't quite yellow, but it was defilitely stained. I started off using the BMW cleaner and then switched to Chemical Guys. It worked, but not as well as I'd hoped. In the end, I just had the front seats re-dyed/repainted before selling the car and they came out as good as new. It was just a hassle.

From now on, at least I know to use Colourlock moving forward.

I wanted to thank all of you for your help! My brother finalized his build and he decided on a G80 xDrive FBW with full Fiona Red, sport ventilated seats, exterior carbon pack, carbon interior,

and sunroof
