F1 2023: Singaporean GP - Singapore (Sep 17)

F1 2023: Singaporean GP - Singapore (Sep 17)

Schedule:
https://www.formula1.com/en/racing/2023/Singapore.html

Marina Bay Street Circuit

Quote:
Singapore
When was the track built?

The Marina Bay Circuit arrived on the scene in 2008. A street track with the city's famous skyline as its spectacular backdrop, the initial circuit plan by Herman Tilke was refined by KBR Inc, while the event has quickly established itself as one of the standouts on the F1 calendar.
When was its first Grand Prix?

In 2008, Singapore had the honour of hosting the first night-time race in F1 history. The Grand Prix – the 15th round of that season – proved a huge hit with the teams and drivers, while Renault’s Fernando Alonso claimed a controversial victory.
What’s the circuit like?

The Marina Bay Circuit is one of the most physically demanding on the calendar, its bumpy street surface coupled with humid conditions giving the drivers plenty to think about. Even with a revised 2023 layout reducing the number of corners from 23 to 19, they are working the wheel a lot, too, around the high-speed lap – the physical stress causing them to lose as much as 3kg in body weight over the course of a race.
Why go?

If you want to see Singapore at its best, there’s no better time to do so than when Formula 1 arrives in the heart of this buzzing city. Get the lay of the land by taking a ride on the Singapore Flyer, a giant Ferris wheel overlooking the track’s permanent pits complex, then get stuck into Singapore’s incredible bar and restaurant scene. Cocktail fanatics should also make a pilgrimage to the famous Raffles Hotel – the proper home of the Singapore Sling (non-alcoholic versions are available!)
Where is the best place to watch?

Get yourself comfy in the grandstand located at Turn 1, which offers spectacular views as the cars accelerate into the first corner, before braking hard and whipping through Turns 2 and 3. You’ll get a great view of the start too – expect to see plenty of sparks fly as the drivers blast off the line.

My prediction:

1. VER
2. PER
3. PIA
4. HAM
5. NOR

This track is very difficult to race on, as it is a narrow street circuit with very difficult overtaking points. Maybe similar to Monaco.
My guess is that here both McLaren and Mercedes will be quite strong, but not as strong as RB.
Last year's race was a drama, starting wet with a lot of colissions and drivers going off track missing corners etc.
Max had that strange situation in qualifying that there was too little fuel in the car due to an error in extimating how much fuel would be used while the track condidions changed, resulting in an 8th time on a track where overtaking is very difficult.
I bet they won't make that mistake again!

So what is your prediction?

Curious to see how the top 2 finish out, Checo does well on street tracks but Max has just been on fire since losing in Baku. I think Charles has a fire lit under him, while he was happy on the surface I think he was pissed about not being able to pass Sainz. I think he'll out qualify Sainz and it won't be an issue.

Got to say Chas will be going all out to finish ahead of Carlo in this one and the 'war' will continue at the Marina while the NOR/PIA battle will intensify also.

Causes me great personal pain to suggest you guys are ranking Lewis Hamilton too low on the Marina Bay Circuit. 4 wins says Lewis has some game here. But I do love to hear Hamilton whine and to see Toto's disgusted look, so carry on.

An odd track this and I expect Checo to be strong here again with his preference for street tracks though all being well for Max in quali I can't see him faltering here like last year with the fuel mix up.
Ferraris carry on from Monza will be strong and Merc will struggle,if wet track then things could change with McLaren moving up.
For dry track
