Available M3s now?

My dealer told me the wait now is 1 and 1/2 years! True or false?
Any M3s out there for sale with no mark up?

A few places may have an allocation waiting--just need to call around. Or, there is someone on this forum who finds ready-to-go allocations for a fee.

If a dealer has more people on their list than they get allocations then their wait may well indeed be a year or more. That doesn't make them scumbags.

It's not good business sense for a dealer to tell people to shop around or call around to other dealers because maybe they have available allocations. They are all independent businesses. This also does not make them scumbags.

Some dealers are shady and some are scumbags but the allocation process is not the reason.

All this is true. And of course a particular dealer may have more orders than allocations pushing wait times for that dealer out as far as 18 months. But it's far from the norm today and I think we can all agree that for the OP, the right answer is to find another dealer.

I agree with this statement. I've had great experience with this dealer.

I just cancelled my allocation maybe 3 weeks ago. Might be a glitch in the system but i can still see the new persons build. They’ve already reassigned it to someone else, changed the options and the car is on its way to being delivered as we speak. Find a new dealer.

I’m not getting the relationship between your observation and conclusion.

Your dealer may be getting 2 M3 allocations a month. There may be 18 people in line. You may have been near the top of the list. You cancelled, the guy after you got it.

Sure if you just placed the order, then cancelled immediately and then a car managed to get built in 3 weeks from that point, that makes more sense. Even though a car that just got built is usually 2-3 months away from still being delivered in the US.

But there is zero context supporting the conclusion without these details.

Apologies here’s some context. I got my allocation back in March 2023, salesman told me about 3-4 months wait for it to be build and delivered. My car went into production about 3-4 times and got pushed back until November (most likely bucket seats). I canceled my order 3 weeks ago and the new car is already on its way being delivered.

Maybe it was someone who already had an allocation, on my end it just looks like they changed the options and started production right away.

...or they removed the buckets and that released the production...

Or it was Tuesday as non of this makes any sense (or is relevant). Cancel, option change and delivery in a three week period does not exist together.

Ya, probably a little short as allocations is a repeated topic.

Have a great weekend.

Take it easy, I would bet you are up to date on your vehicle information 100%, but dealerships are interested in sales and service. The people who work at these dealerships aren't as informed about the cars as someone who is buying one. Sure sales people should know about the product that they are selling, but they are not sitting at home reading every single thing about these cars. Doesn't make them scumbags.

Yeah I don’t think the wait is 18 months at any dealer for an M3 right now. That’s just them trying to get you to buy something else they have on the lot. Move on.

I waited about 3 months for an allocation and my car is tracking to be delivered by January. Depending on where you're at there are allocations available.
