M240ix or 911 C4S

Sorry wrong forum. Will put this into general 2 series forum.

I wanted to get some thoughts from the community as I've seen a lot of folks have owned both BMWs and 911.

My situation: Currently own a 2023 911 992.1 Carrera 4S (my personal dream car) that I took delivery back in April 23. Not much later I've had issues and fast forward it's been deemed a lemon and is being bought back by the manufacturer. No Porsche allocations were available at the time so I persued and got a 2024 BMW M240i Xdrive which is currently on a ship inbound. I recently got a call from Porsche that they do have a 2024 911 C4S build available!

I know they are very different cars and approx 100k spread on price but wanted to get peoples thoughts. What I need is AWD and auto (wife does not drive stick). We daily drive our cars so it's not sitting in the garage during winter months.

Any thoughts if I should dump the M240ix and go with the 911 would be appreciated and super helpful. If I do wait for the 911 (3 months to delivery) I won't buy the M240ix. Makes no sense to own a brand new car for 3 months and take the bulk of the depreciation.

I mean, how can you not pick the C4S? The M240 is a great car, but it’s not even in the same conversation as the 911.

No, not trolling. The ordered the 2024 M240iX just got into port and just notified of the available 911 allocation. So need to make a decision really soon so thought to ask others.

If the money doesn't matter, then definitely the 911. The M240i is not close. If you were debating M2 I think it would be a bit more interesting of a comparison.

The m240ix is undisputed in bang for buck. An amazing value and I assure you will not be disappointed.

As a matter of fact, I’ll do you the favor of taking that 911 allocation off your hands to save you from the headache of having to make such a difficult decision. I’ll be waiting for a DM with contact details.

A daily yes
Wife - is she partial to either?
If not BMW M240i-Xdrive
Spend cash on winter sunny holiday by NOT buying the 911 - in fact multiple holidays = happy wife.

Those are the only two cars you're considering? That's a big spread between a M240I and a 911 C4S. The C4S is $140k before adding any of Porsche's expensive options. You get an M3 CS or an M8 Competition, a Model S Plaid, a Raptor R...there's so many choices it kind of strange you have narrowed it down between those 2 cars.
I think honestly if I could only drive one car with that budget I would get a really nice M3 Competition.

Well, if while you wait for the 911 and do not need the M240ix to drive in the meantime I"d say dump the M240ix, don't buy it, and wait for the 911.

911 C4S is my dream car. M240ix is my practical choice with less give a shit factors while being a fun car (hopefully). The price point of the Competitions bumps it firmly in Porsche territory so the choice is easy, 911.

Wife is super supportive. We already bought the 911 and it has not changed our life style. She prefers SUV's which offer a more cushioned ride so either option is not for her but she will need to drive both cars.

The smart financial play is to take the M240 but my heart will always want the 911. Im clearly over thinking it. I pulled the plug once to buy the 23 911 and maybe should just follow that through process again.

Honestly , I want the 2 min of my life I spent scrolling through this thread back. I envy your position. The 911 is a no brainer.

Congrats, just in time for winter! Hope you already placed your order for winter tires!

We are a 2 car family and already have a large AWD SUV so dont need 3 cars. Ive owned the P-car for 5 months now and it already has 3k miles on it considering I WFH and its been in the shop quite a bit (lemoned).

You said the 911 was your dream car, and you were able to secure a second allocation. Seems silly to pass on it if money isn’t an issue. The 911 will be better in every single way, except back seat space.

And if you ever regretted the decision, easy to flip the 911 for a profit, and easy to find an M240.

If you need to pick one car to own and the lifestyle can suit either car then go with the 911. M240 is an easier car to live with for usability but that's about it. I don't daily my 911 but 992 is so civilized that you can totally use it on daily basis.

Dude you already have a large SUV for family stuff. If you can afford the 911 get that. It will retain it's value better and if you really want an m240 later get a CPO lease return one, it's not like they will be hard to find.

If you want a 911 down the road on the other hand, if recent history is any indicator ...
