Exhaust Button on Console
Hello, I just received my 2024 M2 and I noticed that every time I start the car, the exhaust button turns ON (light is on). Is there a way to have the button default off? I know I can program the M1/M2 buttons on steering wheel to turn off that feature, but in Road mode, it always turns on.

Are you saying you turn the sound off, and when you turn the car off it comes back on?
Are you sure you’re not just engaging some preset that has it on via the memory buttons? Once you’ve turned on via a memory preset, you have to manually get off the preset and turn it off for it to be turned off. |

This happens to mine too, the exhaust button is lit to have the flap somewhat open (not M Preset) and auto start-stop off by default every time I get in.

I’ve tried everything but the exhaust button always turns on when I start the car. I would like it quiet in the morning and have that default off. Nothing seems to work. I did notice I can turn off the exhaust button permanently through the Bimmer Code software, but I don’t want it off permanently. I guess I just need to turn it off manually every time I start the car.

Whenever you turn the car on, the exhaust is always at its quietest mode.
The button being on only means you get a slightly higher volume inside the car (through the fake exhaust sound through the speakers). So, as long as you’re not choosing any preset that has engine set to Sport or Sport+, you already have what you need, a quiet exhaust (as quiet as it can be anyway). |

I thought people had established in sport and sport+ that it does effect the flap. Given winter temps and breaking period I have not cared to try to verify myself.

Additionally, the sound volume increases when the valves open after pressing the sound/exhaust button. We specifically made a video to showcase how valves act on the stock exhaust (Min 5:24) with different modes and sound button activation. Hopefully, this can answer some of the questions.
