New owners - Check your tire pressures!

I took delivery of my special order 24MY yesterday and on the short drive home from the dealer I noticed a lot more tire noise and road surface noise than what I heard during my test drives. I didn't have time to check the tire pressures last night but when I looked at the tires they sure looked overinflated.

So, this morning I checked them and was greatly surprised that the pressures varied from 41 to 46 PSI !!!

This is a dealer screw up. I am fairly sure that the tires are overinflated for transport due to the way the cars are strapped down in the rail car, ship and truck and it is part of the dealer prep to make sure the pressures are normal before delivering to the customer.

Another negative on my already poor dealer experience. Are there not any competent dealers left anymore? Sometimes I think they should be selling 2x4s and not cars.

Just curious , what does the door sill sticker say is the recommended tire psi ? 35/40 ?

And does the sticker match the max psi on the actual tires ?

What were the other negative issues that led to a poor overall dealership experience , if you don't mind me asking ?

"Tires are overinflated during the shipping process, so as to help prevent the flat spot from forming in the tire as it sits for days on in during the shipping process. It is supposed to be part of the delivery check process that the service department deflates the tires to the proper pressure."

Interesting. I just learned something new.

Staggered setup ZTK package door placard says 38 front and 38 rear.

I mentioned in another thread, when the car was set in the infotainment for “auto” tire type, the MyBMW app was recommending 41 front and rear. When I set the tire type to “manual / summer” the app no longer shows recommended pressures.

Tires were 36 psi when I took delivery.

I've never yet had a new BMW where the tyre pressures were right on collection. Invariably way over.

Mine is 38/38 (ZTK package) but that seems about 2 psi higher than every other car that I have owned the past 10 years or so.

Now I have them set at 38/38. I will probably move them to 36/36 when the weather gets warmer. My garage is not heated and can get pretty hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

What are your settings for tire type in iDrive?

When mine was set to auto, I think it was suggesting 41 psi.

When I set it to manual/summer/255-35-19 96Y (rear - it says it will know what the matching fronts size is) and under 160 KM/H it is now suggesting 37 psi.

And the door placard says 38 psi all around.

1 psi no biggie IMO. Just wondering what you are seeing.
