2025 lci?

Hey folks,

I was looking at the "Future BMW model information post" and I noticed it had the following to say about a g42 LCI:

G42 2er coupe
  • In production until 07/29 with LCI in 04/25
  • 08/24: Carbon roof as an option on M240i/M240ix.
  • Interior updates to make it look more upscale.
  • New wheel options. Skyscraper Grey and Zandvoort Blue are available.
  • Production only at SLP Mexico

Has there been any information/updates/leaks about what the changes are? anyone with BMW knowledge able to make educated guess regarding the changes?

I'd like to see the following:
  • updated interior to look more upscale
  • integrated dashboard rather than tacked on top
  • more exterior and interior colors
  • redesigned taillights and headlights
  • slightly more aggressive front end with retro vibes

Why would BMW change the interior in 2024 when they just did that in 2023 ?

You're asking why the company that changed the dash in 2023 when the car came out in 2022 would then again update the interior during the LCI?

Yeah. I am new to BMW. So is that fairly typical ?

I've been an owner of mostly Japanese vehicles , where they will produce the same car, year after year, with little updates.

For example : The Infiniti Q50, which has been the same for 14 years now. And the Nissan 370Z, which was basically the same for 13 years.

Nissan is the worst offender of long platforms with minimal changes. In BMW's case, they do a mid cycle refresh called a life cycle impulse (LCI) which comes with a lot of changes inside, outside, and under the hood.

Probably why Nissan is/was almost bankrupt

I guess I will have to keep my eyes open for any upcoming changes.

Hopefully i won't want to trade my 2024 in for a 2025 lol

Theres always going to be something new and exciting you will want welcome to life. Would bet though interior changes are to the screens mostly. Maybe we will get lucky and get seat options like the ROW.

There should be a lot of changes. You can look at the 3 series and recent 5 series lci for examples.

I've been looking, but not finding much. I have been eagerly awaiting a moonroof delete for the 240, so that CF roof (overkill for me) is a good substitute...and thereby, will wait to upgrade my 230 to a 240 then. But again, very little info on the LCI updates from what I've been seeing.

I hope the screens are better integrated with the dash. Maybe with a hood or cowling to shield from the sun. Can we get a working phone charger, effective cooled seats and the self-driving all other cars are getting? Software has to be a nice revenue stream for BMW.

Style-wise, t's not very promising. The new 5 series looks like a Toyota.

Why would the bottom of the barrel 2-series need an “upscale” interior?

To justify its price compared to a KIA would be a start

Not having a kia logo on it does that just fine, you probably dont remember when you could buy 1 get one free basically if anything kia is inflated far past their worth.

Yep. People have short memories. KIA / Hyundai was absolutely the bottom of the barrel just 15 years ago.

Although they have come a very long way in terms of quality and reliability, they are still not in the same league as their Japanese competition.

I’m saying the way the interior of a KIA is looking better than 2 series these days.

Just had a look at some images. Not bad at all. Especially the Telluride interior - very nice.

I understand your point now. BMW would do well to keep their interiors as refined and up to date as possible .

I personally think the G42 interior looks great. And I like the giant curved floating tablet screen

That looks boring and extra generic to me. Different strokes.

def gonna hold my 22 for the long haul. most interiors are not getting better or more premium just more tech-centric. and the tech integration is usually quite bad. too much "doing it because we can, not because we should", and manufacturers trying to play catch up. hopefully the '25 is sick but not holding my breath

That’s not the point, the materials are higher quality. You even have more and better interior lighting. The dashboard has more thought put into it. BMW is cost cutting on interior quality while raising the price.

The point is those cars are for people who are worried about the price but once they strip the badges at the right angle it kinda looks like a german car the koreans copied. To each their own but sorta weird 8 posts in you are comparing any bmw to a kia. Nm that they cant make a car hood rats in chicago cant steal in 30 secs or less.
