Down Pipe

Is there a best down pipe option for a Catted DP? It seems AA is the best but I figured we have main threads on the rest of pipes might as well do this one.

Best for what?

If you are looking for power, sound, and fitment, you have a lot of excellent options, starting with the MAD to more expensive US Made Evolution Racewerks.

What makes the Active Autowerke special is that it does not trigger the check engine light. If this is a priority, then Active Autowerke is the best.

There are others that claim (and even guarantee) not to throw check engine light.

AA is 400 cell while they are called "ultra high flow" they are obviously not compared to Evolution, FI, Fabspeed, etc. at 200 cell.

There is also a difference in quality workmanship and fitment which is why I recommended Evolution and FI (I have heard good things from Fabspeed but cant really recommend them as I have had no experience with them).

Active Autowerke uses the GESI cats that are rated to 850 whp. i don't even know what other brands are using (could be better or worse) so i cant speak about it.

As for the no CEL guarantee, as far as i know, Fabspeed are the only one that offer it and that's because they use HJS cats which are excellent quality.

Fabspeed is an excellent option but more expensive than Active. In my opinion Active is the better value but i don't fault anyone if they go with Fabspeed.

FI as far as i know use regular cats but with a O2 spacer, i would not put that on the same level as active autowerke or Fabspeed

FI makes an excellent product.

The shop I use used to use AA almost exclusively for BMW but ran into many quality issues and could not afford to keep using them. Also, as stated, they are only 400 cell.

Fabspeed is probably the priciest (german cats) and FI is also on the pricey side, especially with the shipping.

AA is having a Black Friday sale right now.

I've been very happy with my experiences with Active, both on my M240 and my M2.

My M240i threw a CEL, and without issue AA offered to replace it. I ended up trading it for an M2 so I never ended up getting the free replacement, but it was awesome that they offered with no issue. Some companies claim to have warranties then try to do everything to get out of it. Not the case with Active.

My M2 has had DPs for like 4k miles now and I have no CEL. I intend to keep these when we turn the car up in the spring. Shooting for somewhere around 800whp on e85.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Thanks and likewise. I am not planning E85 (at least for now). Will post when all done, hopefully in a month or so (femto is the live wire as to the timing of completion).

@M_Power Rob Im definitely interested in what you get out of yours.

I just got my 1200 mile service done so I think Intake/DP is next. Then exhaust depending on what I can find that is lightweight and affordable.

If the CEL is not a concern, the MAD downpipes are the best value.
