Valve Controller Trunk Install
Anyone done this? I don’t want to install under the car.
I found a reference of someone doing it on a G42, but that only has one valve which equals one cable. Wondering if routing two cables from the right side of the trunk is difficult on a G87 |

Yes I've done it.
Easy to route, there's two grommets either side of the battery. You just need to loosen the heat shield under the car to get access. About 6 or 8 10mm bolts. Few pics below for you. I've got a exhaust valve controller that works directly with the stock exhaust button. No stupid remotes floating around the interior. Works as I switch M1/M2 modes, via the IDrive settings or the exhaust valve button, etc. just like stock but 100% open valves. |

For anyone wondering, did this tonight and it was super easy.
I fucked up and popped out both the grommets though when trying to get the cables through. Need to figure out a bootleg way to seal the holes because getting them back in is impossible |

Not sure what exactly you mean so I’ll go with no, don’t come with anything other than the controller box, 2 cables, zip ties and some 3M Velcro strips. I may be able to salvage the stock grommet but it’s a huge pain

Yeah the holes on both sides are open pending whatever I figure out, was too lazy to do it tonight. I’m definitely not leaving it like that don’t worry

Yeah definitely a reasonable concern. Dealing with all the extra length of cabling was extremely extremely easy using the trunk, at the cost of breaking those grommets

Feed the harness through. Install them in backwards from inside the trunk. You can also put some silicon in with them if you're that concerned about something coming in. |

Follow up for anyone in the future, reinstalled the grommets today. If you happen to pop them out just slide under the car and pop them in from the outside into the trunk, it's way easier. Threw a little silicone sealant on them and good to go.
Also side note, happy to report my car keeps the valves open when doing remote start, which I had read a few times is not the case. |
