NEW RELEASE: Dinan G87 M2 Middle Exhaust / X-Pipe

Name: G87_M2_X_Forum_1.jpg
Views: 867
Size: 377.2 KB

Part Number: D660-0101

Applications:
  • 2023-2024 G87 M2

Product Page(s) / Pricing: dinan.info/G87-X

Release Date: Available Now!

Description: Looking to elevate the external acoustics of your G8x but want to upgrade in stages and/or not break the bank?

The Dinan Middle Exhaust for the G87 M2 introduces a more aggressive tone and an increase in volume over the stock system while retaining the factory muffler at a budget friendly price point. Should the desire for more arise, however, it can easily be paired with the matching Dinan axle back exhaust for further aural enhancement and a more aggressive growl. It is a union that boasts a bold, yet sophisticated, exhaust note that neither can fully achieve on their own.

This middle exhaust itself removes the hydro-formed factory center section from the secondary catalysts back to the axle back, including both resonators, and replaces it with larger 3-inch T304 stainless steel tubing for freer flowing capabilities. In place of the forward factory resonator, Dinan incorporates a beautifully crafted X-pipe made from mandrel-bent tubing for minimum restriction, unlike stamped X-pipes which are commonplace in the market. This hand-made 'X' is not only the focal point of the system in terms of aesthetics but also the star when it comes to the effects on the sound. Promoting even flow to both banks of tips, the 'X' removes unwanted nuances in sound caused by uneven exhaust flow that is present in the stock system. Along with the inherent benefit of increased volume by removal of the resonators, the Dinan X-Pipe for the G87 M2 produces a louder, smoother, and fuller exhaust note that will deliver smiles time and time again.

Features/Benefits:
  • Smoother, louder and sportier sound
  • 76mm (3-inch) tubing replaces stock 70mm (2.75-inch) tubing for free flow
  • Deletes resonators between the secondary catalysts and rear muffler for increased volume
  • Includes X-pipe crossover made from mandrel bent tubing for minimum restriction
  • 5-pounds lighter than the stock mid-section (Stock: 22-pounds vs. Dinan: 17-pounds)
  • 100% 304 stainless steel construction
  • Factory-like fitment with included mounting hardware
  • Perfect complimentary piece to the Dinan Axle Back Exhaust for maximum aural satisfaction

Never been tested but the OPF's are in the same area as the forward resonator on a US car so cut locations should be unaffected. Assuming that to be the case it would be eliminating the OPF's so wouldn't pass any emissions requirements/laws you may be subject too.

Where theres a will, there is a way -- just need a plethora of zip ties and the dedication to making exhaust noises yourself after it is mounted.

Yes. There are 2 cut locations -- 1 at the factory dimples and 1 just behind the secondary cats. If installed with the axle back then it would be reduced to 1 cut location. Full installation instructions and what would be necessary can be found on the product page or directly linked HERE.

Depends on which one particularly as they can range quite significantly. Some delete one or both resonators. Some are single pipe vs. dual. Some have X's, others have H's, or in the case of a single pipe have neither. Some delete the secondary cats, some don't. Lots of various different mixing and matching between all of those elements. Results will also differ quite a bit by what axleback is on the car or if the cats are in place or removed.

Ours deletes both resonators but retains the secondary cats for full emissions compliance / legality. Also retains the 2 pipe design but integrates an 'X' that we find blends / evens the tone to are liking -- especially when paired with the axleback.

Would not fit as I believe the stock oulets that the M tips are designed for are 70mm (2.75") pipe whereas the Dinan outlets are 3".
