Running-in Service not showing on iDrive
Just had the running-in service done and it wasn’t listed in the service history on iDrive like my F87 was.
The dealership said that the G87’s don’t show the running-in service anymore and only show the main services. Can anyone else confirm please? It’s shows the PDI and I thought it strange that BMW would change this seeing how important the running-in service is for warranty/resale etc. |

I also just had my break in service done and I tried to go to the service history in iDrive. It gave me some message like service history isn't available or that nothing was there. I checked under the vehicle status and the date it says the next oil change is due reflects the recent oil change under done during the break in service.

Thanks everyone. That’s four of us with no running-in service listed on iDrive. That must be the case for the G87 then.
If anyone hasn’t had theirs yet, I would ask for paper proof, which is what I was given ontop of the usual invoice. It was printed directly from the BMW system and not from that particular dealer’s system. This confirms that any BMW centre worldwide can see it’s been done. Without this, a private sale could be a bit more hassle. |

That's weird. Maybe it's a non US thing, as mine would pop un the yellow Run in Service reminder on the screen at the beginning and end of the drive. Just had it done today.

I had the run in service completed today. I mentioned this issue to the advisor when I collected the car. When she came back with the key she informed me she had checked iDrive and the history was recorded in there. I haven’t actually checked myself yet. I’m in the UK, but don’t see why that would make any difference

Hey guys, trying to keep this thread alive.
I purchased my 2024 X7 40i, running iDrive 8.5 on November 2023. Car has 2K miles and today I went to a dealer to get a “break in” oil change. I know it is mandatory for M cars only, but I plan to keep this car for a long time. After service was done, I got into iDrive: -Apps -Vehicle status -Required services -Service history …and it is empy and says “no entries”. Even though I keep my records, I would like to have things properly recorded in the vehicle. I went back to the SA and long story short, after bringing a few service employees, making phone calls and getting dumb answers, no one at the dealership had a clue that services performed should be recorded by them. Do you guys know how to do it ourselves?. Thoughts?. |

They didn't have a clue about #2 and sometimes mentioned it shouldn't show anything. I asked them why is "service history" for in iDrive then?. I just decided to leave and figure it out myself. I asked on X7's forums and some people had their services recorded by the dealer and some didn't. I guess it is just dealer laziness, but like you, I could aso be wrong. |

I can confirm that Circle BMW in NJ has no clue this is even a thing. I got told by the service advisor that he’s never heard of such a feature and that it must be a thing in other countries. I explained where you go in Idrive to see it….He claimed he checked numerous vehicles on the lot and none of them have a spot to check service history. However, when I called the genius line and told them what the dealer said she started laughing. She said this has been a feature on all BMW’s for many years and apparently my dealer just doesn’t know it exist somehow. Seems like a training issue honestly and it’s very frustrating to not have a digital easily accessible place to view my service records. Not really sure what I can do about it though. I’ve now had my running in service and my first oil change and none of them are listed in my service history.

Tbh, I couldn't care less if a service shows up in iDrive. I have record of all services performed and keep a detailed maintenance log. Whether or not it shows up on my screen is irrelevant. Too much reliance on digital platforms.
All the services pull up for the dealer when you bring the car in anyway. |

But for what purpose, honestly I'm curious? If you know you got the service done, and the dealership network knows the service was done, what's the point? It's complaining about another unnecessary feature like the lack of a power trunk
