"The look" is mostly previous model owner or troll/haters. Can the car look better? ofc it can, any car can. The way it is , it still a nice looking car. I have gotten nothing but compliments when I fill up gas.

The Chevy Vega, literally one of the worst cars in history, was once MT COTY. And a lot of other turds too over the years.

This isn't an "honor" that anyone should get too excited about. As long as it's YOUR Car of the Year, that's all that matters.

I see your point, and agree to the last line.

HOWEVER... when the F87 M2 CS won car of the year, it was plastered everywhere and I still see it in some of the CS owners signatures below their posts... so it matters to some as credibility.

And if it was big news to the F87 crowd, can't downplay the achievement for the G87 crowd

They look at everything to do with the car as a whole.

Road performance, track performance, cost and everyday livability all come into play. That's partly why the 1/2 a million dollar cars don't always score as high as they should. It isn't just performance based. And gas mileage effects the everyday livability for most people.

Last Sunday morning whilst my car was parked outside of a South Coast cafe (100kms south of Sydney), I noticed a young couple stop and study my M2...I was sitting nearby having coffee when the young man approached and asked if I owned the car, I replied yes, he said `It is beautiful', I replied `What in a Picasso sought of a way'. I must say that looks are subjective, but actually really like the M2 design...it's a keeper.

I’ll bite: because a Prius (or its owner) will not go to the track. So that’s irrelevant.
The M2 is a road car, a family sedan. So fuel economy and practicality matter. To some people, even more so than its track capabilities, as it is more of a road car than it is a track car.

I WILL absolutely put money on it that the winner will be the hyundai... hyundai and genesis have won the last few years as their advertising budget with MT is huge.

I put on 6k miles on my new g87 in 1.5 months of ownership (idiotic I know). Its pretty damn annoying filling up every two days…… I knew what I was getting into so I can’t complain, but for the average driver fuel consumption matters. I fueled up 20 times within that period 😂
