What settings do you drive with daily?

So I just got my car 2 days ago, we have had some nasty weather... was low 20s here all day and yesterday we got a few sprinkles and some light snow. I live on a hill and literally was slipping and sliding all over. Getting my winter tires installed tomorrow, so that should solve that slightly.

Got everything on sport/sport+, except for suspension it's at comfort. Since I've got the HAS installed, I rather have a more comfortable ride. I feel like it's so extremely fun to drive. The twitchy gas pedal makes it hard to parellel park and the sport brakes makes it impossible to lightly engage autohold, since lightly tapping it engages it.

What are your daily settings?

When you say you have everything in sport and sport + are you always driving in the M1 or M2 mode or do you have custom settings?

For daily driving I left all the settings at stock / factory default and that’s probably what I would use if I were trying to drive this car In the snow or bad weather. Not sport or sport + or M1 or M2.

A 463+ HP car that’s rear wheel dive would be a challenge if one were constantly driving in those conditions for all the winter months. I hope the winter tires help you out with some additional traction.

Custom settings in M1 and of course I understand that. I meant that I just got the car and drove it a total of 50 miles the last 3 days in M1 with those settings. Definitely not trying to drive with everything off in the snow like that.

6MT
99% in M1 which is:
MDM
Rev match
Engine s+
Brake sport
Stearing sport
Suspension sport on HAS
M Sport display (via linking dongle)

I’m used to driving in MDM all the time (have for years in F80). It’s just the right amount of intrusion I can tolerate daily. If conditions are dismal I will turn full traction on as MDM may not be enough to regain traction if you lose the car.

Occasionally M2 which is same except traction to level 3. This is for assisted drifts.

If I feel confident, traction full off to send it.

I have sound ON in M1/M2. Been turning that off recently getting tired of burbles. With midpipe and valve controller, m sound off is plenty great and more pure. Also downpipes going on soon.

Cold start, in neighborhood, efficient/ comfort everything. Even with the EL mid it's pretty quiet on this mode.

After leaving neighborhood, switch to M1. M1 is just engine in sport to open valves and warm up engine, all else comfort.

After up to temp, switch to M2. M2 set to engine sport + , trans d3, sport brake and suspension, traction control at level 4. Still feeling out the sweet spot for the last level. Even with just the mid oem dp and oem ab it's a rucus at this point, especially the down shift and decel lol.

I said before and I'll say it again. Everything on Sport unless Sport+ is available. If so, Sport+. Because reasons.

I leave traction control on cuz I am pu55y.

What are your daily settings?
Engine: Efficient (auto stop/start disabled though)
Gear Shift Assistant: On
Chassis/Steering/Brakes: All Comfort

Given the road conditions you are facing I'd advise you to put everything to "comfort" and be sure traction control is on and at its factory default level. If there is a winter setting level recommended use that.

50 degrees Fahrenheit and above sport plus MDM mode. Lately just sport with full traction.

Got my winter tires on today and it feels much better. We're in the 50s now and honestly I have not driven without having traction on. Not now... Definitely gonna do it when it's nicer and in better road conditions.

I love the cold start ups, but same as it was mentioned before. I also live in a neighborhood that I would much rather not wake everyone up.

Super cool to see all the different options the car provides. Super flexible. Makes the car that much cooler. 😎

Just make sure you never put engine on Sport+. That’s for warm/all traction plus no MDM or TC off, and never on track.
Why never put it in sport+? I keep mine in the normal settings until the car is warm.

Also the engine temperature is irrelevant to the modes you select.
i never use sport+ because of this, plus the actuated cabin sound is too boomy my head hurts (i know you can turn off msound). the throttle is even less linear than sport and its pretty annoying and dangerous, drifting with it is pretty difficult too.

I daily with sport engine and mdm, all else in comfort, then M2 is dcs off(0) for some fun with efficient throttle.

Wow, that's great to know. Would it matter on what you set it to in MDM? I guess that's how you get unstuck from the snow. Would you also turn off TC?

It's not a requirement, of course, and it's safer to drive on the highway with it OFF. But it's fun to drive on the streets with it ON. My comment about the Sport+ throttle is that you'll spin out completely if you have engine set to Sport+, since you can't modulate the throttle. So it works against that fun you tried to have.

You can't turn TC off and keep MDM on, since they are modes interfering in the same setting: you either have TC off, or MDM on. TC off has no yaw control, you can spin as much as you want.

I'm not sure what you meant by "would it matter on what you set it to in MDM?" Are you referring to how you set it or when?
I'm confusing TC off with the levels you can set it to and MDM mode. I really have to look at the settings closer and also understand them better. I have not put enough time into that. More or less why I created this thread.

Bro your wrong. What does MDM mode do?
Another way to boost driving pleasure option is with the M Dynamic Mode (MDM). This gives the vehicle higher lateral dynamics and lateral acceleration for controlled drifting

You don't want MDM on in inclement weather. Be careful. Grammatical correction or not. Somebody get Areobod in here please.

It allows for some wheel spin, but not freely (can't do a super burnout, as it'll cut power at some point), and it allows for some slip angles (drift) but it catches the car by braking before it goes too far. It's a "fun" mode in dry-warm pavement, since it lets you play a bit with some safety nets.

It's just a less intrusive stability and traction control. BMWs always had some form of it: you would press the DSC button once, and a light would come on, and if you held it down for 3 seconds, then it was ALL OFF.
MDM is the "push once" version.

PS: "your wrong"?
It's you're. And I am not.
