Black G87 M2 Trunk Badge?

I've been looking around for black M2 trunk badges for the G87 and could only find two options: the $100+ non-oem version from IND and the oem $60 version from AUTOID.

I've heard people on the forums say that the badges between the F87 and the G87 are different, and the AUTOID item says it's an oem part that is listed for both the F87 and the G87.

So that brings me to the question: are they the same or not? If they aren't is there a noticeable difference between the two badges? Thanks

I'll add to this, what are the options for replacing the front badge.

Are any matte vs gloss?

Nothing that I could find. I removed it this weekend and painted it. Prepped it well, paint, clear, etc., just like I've done with emblems on my other vehicles. Unfortunately, when I went to reinstall it, the paint easily peeled off. So I just stripped it back to original and reinstalled it.

If removing it didn't leave two holes in the grille, I'd just remove it completely.

Do you think one of those like rubber paints like dipyourcar.com offers might hold up better? Or maybe vinyl wrapping the M2 gloss black?

I really want that badge black. It's the only
Thing on the exterior of my car that isn't black and it drives me crazy. I was really hoping a company would just make them so I could buy it.

Good luck and thanks for being trailblazing this one for us.

You could definitely try to use vinyl. May need someone with tiny hands and a sharp eye to get around the edges. The letters are pretty small.

There has to be an aftermarket solve here.

Just type that part number ending in 513 listed above into the getbmwparts site. It’s like $60ish on there (I got it for $56.10 on Black Friday).

Is there any discount codes? I see that it’s $56 but tax, “handling”, and shipping bring up the price to over $70.

I found a site called bmwautopartswholesale.com and they have cheaper shipping but I’m wondering if they’re legit

Edit: Just called them, turns out it’s Kuni BMW in Portland, Oregon. All good

I use bmwpartscenter.
Cheaper than getbmwparts and shipping is reasonable. Saved $40 on the set of 50th roundels and centercaps.

Different part but you can see how the prices vary.

Took a look at them and they had similar pricing to Kuni. I ended up ordering thru bmwautopartswholesale.com (Kuni BMW in Portland, OR) because Oregon doesn’t charge sales tax so I ended up saving 4 bucks lol.

I'd assume the trunk badge is made of the same material is the front grille badge

Do you have it fitted to your car? I ended up paying 64 bucks for an OEM one from a dealer's website and it's on backorder for 3-5 weeks :P

I wish, but my luck ran out and blew my engine, so it is at the dealership. So no I haven't installed on the car. I can say the quality looks oem, I am not sure what more to expect. Also the cost of the ebay one allows me to replace if there is any degradation in appearance later.

Fyi - the one I picked up off ebay is a BMW part, just for the F87. Looks close enough to the G87 emblem that nobody would know the difference.
