Rough ride... Tire Pressure or HAS?

Having a hard time with this one. Appreciate any ideas here on my new M2 G87.

Observation
Stiff ride even on "comfort" settings. Almost feel like tires are super over inflated.

Setup
  • Port installed HAS, no spec sheet so I presume it was the standard drop
  • Square 245/40R19 with Michelin PILOT ALPIN PA5
  • ~250 miles
  • Tried PSI from 29 to 34
  • Temperature 25F - 40F

That would be really bad considering the car had port installed HAS.

I have the factory suspension and find it a little harsher than I’d like at times, particularly on uneven pavement. I am at 36psi but think the comfort pressure is more like 32psi.

My daily driver is a X3mc on MSS Springs, the M2 is like luxury.

Right? How can I check that? I'm sure it's not the case but you never know.

I'm not expecting a Cadillac by any means but I do feel every little imperfection on the road which doesn't seem right. I've owned many sports cars in my 25yrs driving and this is a first. Literally feels like I'm driving on 65 PSI tires.

How many miles? I noticed the ride loosen up over the first few thousand miles, but it wasn't bad before that.

Any chance you still have bump stops on the suspension?

Maybe? How do I check this? As others said, doubt it since I got port installed HAS.

I am pretty damn sure they put the shipping blocks back in after has install.

At least when I saw my car in transit mode it was pretty high still.

So not sure why OP is dismissive of this. Quick check and done. If they’re there, they have to be removed. Simple
This makes sense, for some dumb reason I thought the were removed at the port during the install but it makes sense to install them again. I'll check the car in a bit

If you have MP HAS it should be pretty obvious as I think the car will ride higher.

Correct, no bump stops. Just double checked. Anyone have experience with this tire in this temperature?

If you are driving in temps below 5C (41F) on the stock summer tyres, the tyres will be rough-riding, noisy and lacking grip. They may also vibrate due to flat spots until they have warmed up. A proper winter tyre will solve that.

I'm experiencing this with winter tires.

In that case, it may just be what you perceive as a harsh or stiff ride, unless the HAS changes the suspension tuning significantly over the stock suspension (besides dropping the ride height). I perceive the stock suspension on the G87 as compliant in comfort mode and actually as soft but better controlled than that of our Macan S with standard suspension on 19" wheels. That's with 2.3 bar tyre pressure in all tyres on both vehicles.

I’m feeling you here. No HAS, but it’s just a tad rougher than I remember on the test drive. My tires were set to 40psi from the dealer, so I dropped them down to 33 but it’s not that much better. I wish there was a way to tune the dampers in software to be a little softer in comfort mode.
