bmw x1?
hi. i’m looking to purchase my first car, and i’ve been really attracted to the bmw x1 model. i like how the car looks.. the shape and how it is compact. i want a smaller suv. i currently drive a 2007 jeep compass. i’ve already experienced having my car at the shop every week. lol
i will be purchasing a USED one. so im worried about the maintenance that is going to come with the car. i have saving plans set in place, as in setting aside money for car maintenance, car bill, vet bills, phone, etc. i currently only drive 5 minutes to work. i am able to get my oil changed for free as well. should i seriously shy away from this model? if so, what cars are similar? |

Being the owner of a 2018 X1 M-Sport from new and seeing all the things that can go wrong (prematurely?) and having experienced the ONE failure on our X1 that shouldn't have I would stay away.
I would select a Honda or a Toyota if you want reliability and low cost of maintenance. If you are only 5 minutes from work and you have a garage I would recommend a Nissan Leaf. It's about the same as a X1 interior room wise with just a little to give up in the tailgate. (we equate our X1 to our old 2013 Nissan Leaf). |

Not sure why you would be recommending an electric Nissan Leaf to someone looking to get an X1??
I have a 2016 X1 and have had no issues whatsoever and maintenance has been no dearer than any other car I have ( mine is diesel and services tend to be 2 years apart for oil filters etc) |

Saying a Leaf has same interior room as the X1 is an exaggeration. No one wants an X1 would cross shop a Leaf. Convince me you are not trolling.

Wow, wasn't expecting these responses.
As someone who owned a Nissan Leaf and cross shopped to an X1 (after I sent the Leaf off to my dad to use) my wife and I compare the X1 to our Leaf (minus the fact the X1 is ICE). We had our Nissan 4.5 years and put 60K miles on it. My apologies for suggesting a vehicle that seemed more relevant for someone who only drives five minutes to work. |
