BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I got my G87 manual as an HEA car back in April, coming from manual comp F80. It seemed more natural to go to G87 from F80 than the larger new M3. My rear seats were not getting much use. G87 styling was more appealing.
Loving the car and having tons of fun with the build.

After 6 month of slowly modding my Zandvoort blue M2, I came to the conclusion that the color does not suit me, or the car IMO. I decided to go with something dark and not close to any color offerings on the G87. Was considering dark green, but in the end settled on Gloss Aubergine (fr. eggplant) Purple by Evolv/APA. Very intriguing shade of purple indeed.

Many thanks to TSD Motorsports & Wraps in Hammonton, NJ. They did a tremendous job wrapping the car. I opted to go with full wrap including doorjambs, which is pricey but worth the extra effort, in my opinion. I just didn't want to see the smurf blue every time I enter the car. Great shop, which I recommend without reservations for any BMW/Supra work or for wraps/PPF. Leo did a meticulous job wrapping the car.
I also had them PPF the CF roof, which was not color wrapped, obviously. Also had them tint the rear lights.

Car has a nice shade of dark purple in the sun, becoming quite sinister dark in the shade and at night. Color pairs nicely with CF bits. RGB DRL are fun to change the feel slightly with different colors, however gimmicky it might be. Chose to wrap front splitter due to underlying small crack. New CF splitter on order, and will decide which I like better.

The car is quick, loud, and awesome. Hope you enjoy.

Here are the mods so far, best I can remember. Your suggestions are welcome. Considering Alpha-n E30 style spoiler with wrapped lower portion, upper left CF. Thoughts welcome.

Outside/Cosmetic:

Vorsteher VFF-107 wheels 19/20 in carbon graphite
M Performance duckbill spoiler
MHC+ Front splitter edition 1

Autotecknic front and rear CF inserts

DRLs bluetooth RGB
Muffler custom painted black
Zunsport front center grill mesh
TLG mudflaps
PPF on CF roof
Aubergine Purple Wrap (Evolv/TSD)
Rear light tint (Evolv/TSD)

Absolutely gorgeous build. Very tastefully done. This is honestly my favorite build next to that M2 GT thing that appeared on instagram a couple of months ago.

Looks awesome but I have what may sound like a silly question. If you change the color of the car, does the registration have to reflect that? I realize a wrap is not permanent but if you get stopped by the police and they see a mismatch in the information on the registration, is there a problem?

Don’t know. Haven’t given it any thought honestly. I’d hope reasonable heads would prevail in case of a traffic stop. Probably more likely to get shi! for illegal tints and lack of front plate.

Car looks phenomenal!

Thought I’d share a funny story.

1995 I was in NYC. Got pulled over by “stolen car task force”. I had a 1992 Corrado VR6. Car was Dark Forest Green. When I had the car registered the DMV abriviated GRY (Grey) Should of been GREEN. Error at DMV.

Had some undercover cops follow me down Broadway in NYC. They eventually pull me over and I was surrounded by 3 cop cars on Broadway and several officers. They were asking a bunch of questions so fast trying to trip me up I guess. My fiancé was in the car she started to cry and thought they were going to arrest me.

I keep absolutely nothing in the car and it looked showroom new. They had me get out the car and was going through the car like I was a drug dealer. Connecticut plates in NYC. I was very young back then and perhaps fit the profile or whatever. I had already graduated from college had a great job about to get married.

It was a beautiful summer day. Sunroof open music playing enjoying life.

In the end they sent me on my way. I worked with lawyers, judges and spend time in the court room for work so I was not nervous one bit. I felt smarter than all the cops there and eventually they went on their way.

Created a little scene for sure!

This was NYC back in the 1990’s lots of car theft back then a lot worse than these days.

Good story. Ah yes, crazy Giuliani days. NYPD didn’t mess around.

Did you have to remove the bumper to install the carbon grille?

Yeah, no other way. Same for front vent inserts.
Bumpers and doors were off for wrapping anyway.
That’s the great thing about the shop I use. They are BMW installers/mechanics and wrappers.

Agree wholeheartedly.
I’ve had a great experience. They care about quality of their work. I’m assuming prices are competitive but I wouldn’t know since I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I’m lending the car to be used at their booth at Philly auto show next week. Check it out in person if you’re visiting.

FYI, Pete from TSD took some of the better pictures above.

Talking

I'm honored to have some of the photos I snapped featured on your post! I was feeling a little rusty behind the camera and worried they might be total flops

The car came out awesome Mike. it was a pleasure meeting and working with you. Excited to have your car with us at the Philly Autoshow in the upcoming weeks.
