Firearm Mounts for G87?

Has anybody found any G87 firearm mounts? I’m specifically looking for a pistol. If not how are you securing your firearm while driving (other than on your person)? Appendix carry gets uncomfortable on long drives, especially with a manual transmission.

the car mounts in general i have seen are super gimmicky, not specific to one vehicle, and probably unsafe especially if you carry with one in the tube. on your person is really the only way to go with a car where anything unsecured (and even some secured items) tend to lose their place in a hurry

after getting t-boned in my right-front quarterpanel by a 40mph+ CUV I would not want to have a pistol in appendix carry, that lap belt grabbed me very hard and a pistol would've concentrated that energy

I would reach out to any local CAD/3d printing companies close to you. They may be able to scan the knee rest trim area on the passenger side to encorp a mount? Maybe there is even a standard attachment that can be incorporated for other accessories?

Something in the location of the link I shared.

appendix carry is uncomfortable and i don't typically do it but i think most mounts would have resulted in a pistol bouncing around the cabin on impact unless it is very very well secured, at which point it probably is not easily accessible. those stupid magnet mounts are a definite no go for me for this very reason

yeah it would have to be secured well for sure, holster riveted/bolted to a interior panel and some kind of retention over the pistol as well

I have been down this road. For me it always comes back to center console or on my person. Have not yet found a solution I was satisfied with. If someone finds or has a good alternative that does NOT use magnets, please post it here.

Best option is to rig up something yourself or go to someone handy to do some custom work.
Otherwise, center console

I'm generally not a fan of appendix carry - especially if you're going to be in a seated position for a long time or frequently.

In terms of draw speed, it's not going to make that much of a difference because no matter how you carry, you're not going to be able to draw fast enough to beat someone who has already drawn down on you. At that point, you need to either get the heck out of there or find/implement cover fast enough to get you to a less tactically disadvantaged position.

It's your situational awareness that will prepare you and tell you when you need to un-holster ahead of time.

Unless you've trained in vehicle CQB, you're probably going to be more of a danger to yourself, your passengers, and innocent bystanders around you while not really mitigating the actual threat. Specifically, after you deal with the seat belt, draw your weapon and are now trying to egress out of the vehicle, how many can honestly say they have the muscle memory to deck the weapon on the dashboard, pivot their hips to get out of the seat, and immediately index the weapon on their non appendix carry holster as they seek cover/concealment?

Center console under the armrest is the only thing I have come up with so far.

Dara holsters has some options. the wedge one is dumb, the screw in mount option might work. the retention would have to be pretty darn high for me to feel comfortable with it in an accident god forbid, and then i hate the idea of handling more to remove it from that holster into whatever im carrying with. but wanted to call it out for those looking. i have a kydex AIWB i like from them but no experience with these specific products

Nice. Those Dara’s are better than most options I’ve seen. Thanks for sharing.

np i would only trust one from a reputable kydex brand (which dara is). any amazon/temu/wish universal crap, magnets, or between the leg seat holsters is way more likely to hurt you than anything else. my opinion is that it seems to be the only safe way to do it is on your person, or a proper vehicle safe.

I bought a surplus Humvee and mounted the .50 cal LMG from it on my carbon roof, then I downloaded ChatGPT and programmed it to shoot targets on sight. Works fine.

Might be able to stuff a kydex holster, muzzle end first, into the door pocket. If you wedge it in their well enough, you might be able to slide the handgun in and out with the grip sticking up. That cubby goes pretty far in there, so it'd would be pretty well concealed while still being somewhat accessible.

I prefer to just carry on my person.

It's illegal in my state to carry on person in a car. It must be in a box with a lid so glove compartment or center armrest. I use the latter.

I would have to imagine there is some manufacturer who specialized in vehicle mounting systems, but I haven't looked into it. Seems like I've seen a few advertised, but I never really considered it.

I have to be perfectly honest that in all of the information that I have consumed on the topic of firearms I've never seen mention of the potential harm the seatbelt could cause in an accident if it were to ram an appendix carry into your abdomen or the prospect of it being ejected during the same scenario. That seems like a valid concern.

I have given it consideration for road cycling, however, and settled on an Alienware option. I didn't have much regard for Alienware before I started my search for a solution for a carry option while cycling, but I've been using it for a number of years and gone down (crashed) a few times without incident. It has retention and it works well. That's a little off topic. Sorry.

I have a couple of the Safariland holsters with retention too. Their modular system might afford an opportunity to rig up some kind of DIY solution if you could find a place to mount the quick locking system: https://safariland.com/collections/h...chment-Systems

Safariland makes quality gear. I'm not sure it could withstand a car wreck. That thing just bouncing around in the vehicle might cause more of a head injury liability than whatever abdominal injury the seatbelt could cause with an appendix carry idk.

I think you mean "aliengear", correct? While I have occasionally wanted to shoot my alienware computer, I have never found it a good place to store a gun.
