Launch Control - 2024

I believe I have all the necessary steps.

However - when you are hard on the brake with one foot , and on the gas with the other foot.....

Do you have to floor the gas pedal for it to activate ?

I pressed on the gas, but didn't floor it while holding down the brake pedal = no launch control.

It is pretty unsettling when your car starts lifting up as the engine is fighting against the brakes.

On another note - I had a short red light run with a Dual Motor Tesla S . Went very well. Launched about a half a car ahead of him. He almost immediately got the half a car length back and then some , and we were fairly side by side till we shut it down. Those things are crazy fast.

I think you need to be in sport mode and traction off. Also have driven a certain distance after starting engine.

Others will chime in about amount of throttle. Haven’t tried it yet.

Need to push the accelerator past the kick down to engage LC.

-engine must be warm.
-must be in sport+ mode.
-must be in sport auto (S) mode.
-click traction button and activate DSC traction.
-mash brake down pretty hard and hold.
-press accelerator past kickpoint and hold.
(launch control active flag should appear on cluster)
-release brake completely.
-hold on tight.

You really have to push down very hard on the brake before mashing the accelerator to the floor otherwise the car may push through it's brakes.

I doubt there any many cars, regardless of cost, that are much faster then a M240i X drive in LC from zero to 30 MPH.

Just 1.25 secs according to Dragy......and that is without cheating by using rollout.

I will try the accelerator pedal down all the way next time. It just feels very rough and unnatural doing this to the car.

I suppose that is an option.

But now we have a new thread , with a new discussion , on the first page.

Nooooo !

Just light hearted jokes. I'm not actually a post whore. And yes, I use the search function. Sometimes I will need a more specific answer beyond what previous threads provide. And sometimes threads won't show up in a search.

Hopefully the site Moderators don't take your comment about being banned seriously.

Ever get it working? I am having trouble getting it to activate and went looking for help after feeling like the attempts were going to blow the car up. It is indeed: unsettling.

Here's a video of the procedure. It details the steps noted by Aastretch64, but might still help... There are also other videos if you search "BMW G42 Launch Control"

Hope it helps

I can't do it to my baby. I've tried a couple times since this thread, but didn't follow through.

From a dead stop, in S+ and transmission is sport mode, the car already launches crazy good.

I've brake boosted a bit for launches a few times

Hmm, looks like this 'Traction' needs to be selected. Perhaps this is where I went wrong

You must be on a previous drive, I don’t have that traction option at all.

Just long press the traction button on next to the gear selector.
