230i Exhaust

Has anyone found any options for a 230i exhaust and if not how does a muffler delete sound?

There was this thread a while ago about it. I don't think anybody has come out with one for the 230i.

I've been waiting, but have yet to see anything.
It's a bit frustrating, but I understand it's tough for small companies
to develop a product for a limited market.

Saw this Video last month for an exhaust system for the 330i. May work for the 230i 🤷‍♂️

This exists for the 220i

Not sure on how complex it is to make it 230i compatible

Illegal in 50 states apparently.

Good find. If it fits the 220i it almost certainly fit the 230i, since they're both B48 motors.

Unfortunately, the system is not available to ship to the US.

If you're really motivated and there aren't any state side options why not just delete the muffler at the axle, and then have an exhaust shop weld on some pipes for you? You might have to buy some exhaust tips unless you're fine with the stock hdmi tips that don't even connect to the exhaust system.

Doing a muffler delete is certainly an option.
However, I don't want to do a straight pipe set-up.
I have heard the AWE track exhaust (straight pipe)
and to me it's too loud, and then there is drone.

You could probably take a system for the 330 or 430i and do
some fabrication to make it fit, but I'd like to buy something
that I know will fit.

Went to an exhaust shop to ask about a muffler delete and one of the employees said that it would affect back pressure which could potentially cause the turbo to fail. I read about back pressure before going but I still don’t fully understand how or why a muffler delete would potentially cause a turbo failure. I don’t want to destroy the turbo for a little bit of extra noise.

Also heard that the valve on the stock exhaust is an issue with this option.

That's news to me, there are multiple people on this forum alone that have resonator and muffler deleted on the b58 G42 platform, not sure why the b48 would be especially vulnerable. When the exhaust valve opens it's pretty close to muffler deletion.

There are lots of people de-catting their car among all things, I feel like that would have a much bigger impact on back pressure than a muffler since the energy of the exhaust gasses near the end of the exhaust system is less (which is why exhaust tips don't really change sound so much)

Perhaps you may be better getting a second opinion from another muffler shop cause even for what I'm telling you trust... and verify 😉.
