2024 M2 or 2022 992 C2

Wanted to see how people are polling on this subject. Currently have G80 in the garage, along with a 992 C2. My spec'd 2024 M2 is here, can only keep two cars. 992 C2 for the M2? Please share your thoughts.

Thanks in advance

Unless you are bored with the 992, I don't think there is any real question.
If you trade for the M2, it's a lose lose in my opinion. You'll take a knock on the 992 and pick up an M2 which will start depreciating as soon as you park it in your garage.

You've got an M3, so the 992 seems a good companion. A mint 993 s or similar would be even better as a weekend fun car, but the 992 is nice.

Is the 992 a manual or a PDK?

Keep your 992 unless you are bored.

Again, just my take, but I'd stick with the 992, even with PDK, which is about as good as it gets for a two pedal set-up. The 992 is going to be more visceral and will give you more steering feedback. The G87 is likely to be faster, but unless you're just looking at numbers, the 992 will be the pick.

I would switch only if M2 were a 6-speed manual with carbon buckets. 992 PDK offers better driving experience than M2 ZF8.

really depends on personal and financial questions. what is your cost basis on the G80? the 992? does the 992 "do it" for you? do you need a sedan? can you ditch the G80? etc etc. i personally do not enjoy the driving experience of post 997, non GT pourschas and would prefer the G87 6 speed to a C2 PDK. but if the 992 tickles you pink, and you need a sedan, then just sit tight IMHO. what a great problem to have lol

Thanks! 997 was the best of all the 911. 992 is slightly roomier with the touch screen & razor blade like switches & gear shift.

Cost factor would be a trade and the equity on the 992 would completely covered the M2.

Probably best stayed with the 992. Problem solved. Just couldn't decide....always nice to have a shiny new toy. But never gets old driving a P car

Yeah as many are saying here i would keep the Porsche. You already have an M3 and so you basically already know what you're gonna get with the M2. Unless you absolutely love the G8X platform to death, having 2 seems very redundant even if the M2 is slightly smaller. Now if you were replacing the M3 with the M2, thats a different story.

Personally i feel like the 911 is just going to be the all around superior vehicle.

I would do a 991.5 T over any M but I’m maxed around $80k. I think I’d sell the M3 and swap the 992 with the best spec T you could get.
A M2 and M3 garage is a bit redundant (to me)
If I could get a 10k CPO T for $80k I’d daily it for 10 years.

Looking at your signature, you like having new cars and experiences. Which is totally cool and your prerogative, however in this instance, it simply makes sense to enjoy what you have. The G80 and G87 are too similar and if we're being honest, I think the G87 and a 992 are similar enough if you get the carbon pack on the M2. With residuals being what they are, it makes more sense to keep the 992. Doesn't hurt to drive the G87 to confirm what you want too.

$2k wouldn't move the needle for me unless you're looking at getting rid of the g80, you need out of a car payment, or have something you'd like to do with the excess cash. I'd argue for the latter two I'd just sell the 911 outright. Even for an additional $8k on this deal I don't think that would be enough to get me to change out the 911 (for me, at least) unless I had another car combo I wanted to get into.

Congratulations on the stellar pairing !

They want your 992 so they can re-sell it at a high margin of profit.
You've got two keepers with the 992 and G80.
You're likely to get a similar communication or two from the dealer
sweetening the deal further.

To me, that just solidifies what a good car you have on your hands with the 992.

One thing is for sure, you're in the driver seat, so you get to call the shots if they make you
an offer you can't refuse ;^)

Not familiar with the G80 but my research is that it is an M3. With an M2 coming my first thought is the G80 is expendable...

That is you will have a dare I say similar car to the G80 in the M2. By way of comparison the 992 is quite different compared to either the G80 or M2.

Thus I'd keep the 992 C2 and swap the G80 for the M2.
