Stock midpipe VS Active Autowerke EL midpipe - Sound comparison

All right yall, hopefully you saw the installation video last week, as the new Active Autowerke equal length midpipe for the BMW G87 M2 is excellent!

The most common question though with any exhaust change is though, how does it sound?!?!

So one thing to always keep in mind with ANY exhaust video is the limitation of the camera itself. The mic and conditions will heavily influence the video and audio, and in person is always the best.

That said, and a bit of a spoiler, I LOVE this upgrade! This brings a whole new dimension to the rather tame sounding G87 and adds some deeper tone and aggression.

Check it out!

Nice video. Midpipes are the best and easiest upgrade that anyone can do to this car to immediately improve it over stock. This is what the car should sound like from the factory.

Definitely makes a difference, and I appreciate that efficient mode/flaps closed is still relatively mellow for that 430am gym run. Waking up the house with my exhaust is a great way to die.

Are you still using stock exhaust valves and no controller? Thanks for sharing sounds great.

Are you able to use the oem valves and oem valve controller with this midpipe?

I’m trying to not replace valves or controllers and just use the stock valves with the aftermarket midpipe.

Correct, oem back box and valves are still in place.

Agreed was night and day difference for just a mid, especially with engine in sport + and trans in d3.. Now that's its been on for a bit trying to decide if needing more with a dp or ab lol.

if ab means axle back, the downpipes will offer more sound.

Can’t stand how quiet the car is. I’ll decide later if I want the axle back. Then do downpipes when I’m ready to let go of the warranty.

Please note that the downpipes do not affect the warranty since they don't add extra stress to any car component. If anything, it reduces the stress by eliminating the back pressure on your turbos.

So you think bmw would honor replacing the turbos should something happen with catless downpipes installed?

Firstly, I'd like to say that the scenario you are using is quite rare. With hundreds of thousands of tuned cars on this forum, i was not able to find any S58 turbo failure.

but, even in the unlikely event of a turbo issue, high-flow downpipes reduce stress on the turbos, improving their durability compared to the stock downpipes. BMW will absolutely honor the warranty if the downpipes were your only upgrade.

Haha I’m just playing devils advocate. I plan on getting downpipes eventually. That’s good to know that the turbos are pretty reliable though with tuning.
