Happy Birthday to hubbahubba, and some unexpected news

I went to wish our friend hubbahubba a happy birthday, which was yesterday, Feb 4, and found out he's in the hospital and has had 2 unexpected spine surgeries from an injury that happened 28 years ago. He's been in the ICU for 11 days and expects to stay in the hospital for a few more weeks for acute rehab. This all happened as a surprise to him. He said his doctor says he has a year of work to get close to where he was before.

Let's all wish him a Happy Birthday and send him our good wishes and support to help him get through this.

Happy Birthday, hubbahubba

So sorry to hear. 11 days in the ICU is not fun. Feel better soon.

Thank you all for the prayers and positive thoughts. As Esteban mentioned, totally out of the blue. Long story short, walking on the back patio from my kitchen to bedroom, felt electric shocks go across my knees and up the legs and butt, and landed in the spot where the original injury occurred 28 years ago. Next thing you know, I’m in the ambulance. Two surgeries later, and I am officially on the road to recovery. It’s going to be a long road back, but I’m ONLY 56 now. If I burn a whole year getting back, I’m fine with that as long as I get back to walking, which I most certainly will do. In theory I am out of ICU tomorrow. Thanks again to all for your prayers and concern, there is a bunch of good people here!

I say check the robotic implant option and go full cyborg. Such a raw deal to have it just hit you out of the blue. Kick it in the arse and come back stronger, soldier!

Happy Birthday!

I’ve got far too much living to do to even have the notion of giving in. Keep on sending the good energy, she goin’ down.
