Wanted... Performance shops
Are there any GOOD performance shops located near Dallas/Ft.Worth that are not Cedar Performance, Rk Autowerks... That have a good reputation with the S58's? It's like trying to find a treasure in the ocean. Lots os shops who claim they're great, but when you start talking about custom tunes and wanting to use a specific tuner, they all go radio silent. Any recommendations appreciated.

I’m in the Austin area, and admittedly not in the tuning scene. More track focused which is all about suspension and brakes, and lastly power. I may be completely wrong about this but I haven’t heard, at least in the track community, that there are any great tuners for these engines in the central Texas area. Have you tried calling some of the BMW focused motorsports shops in your area to see who’d they’d recommend?

We do have great suspension shop local to me.. Texas Track Works, and they can do great things with the suspension, regardless whether you want a track set or a street setup. I'll eventually find the shop that'll work with me, but it's going to take some research on my part. |

The only thing I'm not flexible on is using him as my tuner. I think he has this G8X platform dialed in. Thanks for your post, I appreciate it. |

Also, I spoke to a few people with tuned F80s at COTA and they all used Art of Assembly. Roman is the name of the guy. I have no experience with him but have heard good things about his work.

lol, okay then. Have you watched any of phd racing’s videos? He just had a custom tune on his g87. For a very different purpose but he’s making 672 but I believe on ms 109 with race downpipe and exhaust.

Truly, my biggest challenge currently is just finding a shop that's not going to dump my car on their back lot, with no ECU in it for 2 weeks... we get shitty weather here, and I don't want my car left outside period!

Oh I didn’t mean for it to sound dismissive or all raised eye brows. Just a small world acknowledgment and the fact that you didn’t have a great interaction with him is an additional piece of info to help form my opinion. Anyway, good luck and let me know what you decide to go with and why etc if you feel inclined. Thanks!

Anyone know of a good shop in the Carrollton/Lewisville area? I just need to get my new brake pads installed, so I just need someone who won't screw something up.

It's incredibly frustrating knowing there are great shops out there, but getting in touch with them is sometimes difficult simply based on not knowing who they are. I'll keep searching until I find one that is on the same page as me when to comes to processes and timelines....as well as accurate pricing upfront!!!! |

Ya... I would say if you wanted to end up on a dyno, I'd probably just take a road trip to FL and make a mini vacation out of it. When I lived in AZ we did this all the time for Cali cause PHX could be hit/miss on certain performance shops for certain platforms. Hell, even after I was tuned in PHX on my STI I had to get some revisions after driving back up north since I lived at 5500 elevation.

Back from the dead RK is the only one I am aware of who knows the platform locally. They moved from the PNW to Haltom City. Big boy shop. $ bar none high end builds. Fastest G80 in the Nation from what is observed @instagram, I would trailer my car to CES Motorsport in North Carolina possibly, tune stuff or just $$$ and pony up for big time fun here locally at RK which is probably what will end up happening when I murder it out like the 5.0.
