Wow! This is how the car should be. I can’t compare to stock cuz I’ve had AST HAS on for a bit. But it’s a night and day difference between that. Set to 7 clicks all around and the car drives so smooth. Actually really surprised cuz people have said it rides harsh. I think just the opposite. Whereas the AST on Sport plus struggled on bump to control rebound this suspension just eats it up. Yes hard compression you feel the stiff springs but I’m ok with that.

The car is flat in turns and feels way more planted on exit accel.

The biggest issue I had with the HAS is it lowers the vehicle but shortens the shock stroke as well.

I may do some tweaking. I nailed the front height. Went about 6mm lower than Ohlins spec. The back is a bit high. Bad news the whole suspension comes apart to adjust the coil height and then match the shock length. However that means the car will be lower without a change to how it rides.

I did have some popping turning lock to lock. I had added some more camber on the Millway plates. I removed the extra camber and it is fine now.

Track tires will be on later this week and in for an alignment.

HAS is still a good bang for the buck mod, but once you forked over the cash for a quality suspension setup - there's no going back.

No issues with the M Performance HAS performance here. Not sure how you can possibly compare it to a $4000 aftermarket suspension.

It's hard to beat well-engineered, 7-post shaker rig-tested monotube coilovers. HAS will likely make the OEM system under-dampened.

It's an apples-to-oranges comparison, though.

100% agree. Many would also argue that BMW spends millions and 1000s of hours on their suspension tuning so why change that. However they do sell the M-Performance HAS kit and I would argue that it does not improve the vehicle on the track and may make it worse.

Very easy to compare people do it all the time. I’ll compare my $900 mid-pipe to a $6000 catback. In this case $900 mid pipe was a no brainer. Use case matters. I presented my use case. Yours may be different.

Based on my experience on the track Ohlins > OEM > HAS

You're acting like the car is garbage without a $5,000 aftermarket suspension, when that's clearly not the case. I guarantee a BMW Factory driver will lap the Nurburgring faster on a stock car than you can with all your mods

Can you share the installation instructions for the front? I mainly wanted to know do we reuse the upper spring pad/ dust boots? I am planning on a set of millway front top.

I wouldn’t recommend it. Streets will work but the uniball ones won’t without a different bushing. There are a couple threads in the millway issues.

If you use them you take the spring pad off the stock plates. Cut the boot off and put them on the millways. The Ohlins have their own boot.

Thank you kind sir. Can you let me know how to do these parts? I am having problem with getting the boot into that small space and the nut provided to screw the bracket in is too short to bite into the shaft behind it to hold the bracket from moving

That part was a pain. I checked to see if I had some pics but I don’t of that part. The set screw is in the middle thread. You have to be patient and take on half of the boot and push it into the gap. Then push the ring up a bit to put some tension on the boot. Then do the same on the other side. Then push the ring up as hard as you can and set the set screw.

Once I did that I put them on the car. I had to rotate the ring a bit once I got it on the car for the bracket to be positioned right and clear everything gotta be careful if you rotate or the boot may slip out again.

This is the only pic I have. It is the passenger side.

Do you know if you need adjustable end links for the sway bars after lowering, to adjust pre-load? Also, were you looking at KWv3 as an option? And if so, any specific reason going with Ohlins over the competitors?

I did look into the v3. Actually was thinking about spending much more for something like the v4 or JRZ coilovers but that was a big jump for where I am at with the car.

But ultimately over the v3 I liked the fact Ohlins didn’t impact suspension travel when adjusting ride height. I also read up on some testing of their DFV technology and thought it would provide a good balance for street track use. I also liked the simplicity of a single adjustment for where I am at with the car.

Lastly I got a good Black Friday deal so saving a few bucks never hurts. In hindsight starting with Ohlins/Vorshlag would have saved me some $$$ but live and learn.

Oh forgot to add about the end links. They are on my to-do list the mounting points are a bit different and I think they will need to be shorter than stock.

Surprised Ohlins went with a progressive front spring for the G87.

How is the ride compared to stock for everyday driving? I planned to just go with Eibach Springs to hold me over until I'm ready for a more purposeful setup like this. I like having the settings available, and the wife likes the ride, but I've never been a fan of lowering springs, and I like to have my car perform as well as it looks.

For a street car, adjustable springs are an excellent choice.

If you are a serious track driver, the Ohlins are the better investment.

Okay, thanks for the information! They look great on your car. I had the M-Performsnce HAS kit but I personally didn’t love the ride quality. I ended up going with the KWv3 and they feel miles better than the HAS kit (obviously more expensive as well). I wish I saved the hassle and money and went straight for the coil overs in the first place, expensive lesson lol. I need to get end links now as well. Thanks again for the good info and sharing your experience.
