Hi everyone M240i U.K owner here of 6 weeks in Thundernight.

Anyone else got scratches on the lower outer black trims and adjoing painted bumper?

UK roads are poor but I’ve never noticed this amount of road rash on any other BMW I’ve owned.

Car has not had any paint protection from dealership but I’ve locally applied PPF now to painted areas.

Your views, comments would be greatfuly welcomed.

Thanks
Andy

I had a cat that loved to sleep on my cars the bmw was no exception. She left some marks on the top of the grill you could see the claw marks they looked similar to that. Anyway I used 3do cutting compound and a microfiber pad and you can't tell I'm like 90% sure it's all you need to do as well.

Hi, did buff out the marks at the weekend but after a couple of days they are re appearing, that’s why I believe it’s pick up from our roads, I would like to know if anyone has seen this, soft injection mouldings and paint?
Thanks for the response.

My front end is ppf’d so no scratches. The black skirts under the doors are a little scratched.

All the black parts are very soft and easily marked/scuffed. I believe they are recycled plastic and the softest paint known to mankind.

The OP's photos don't look like any road rash I've ever seen. Statistically, that many stones so close together would be almost impossible and many of them are curved and at the wrong angle. Plus 1 for the cat theory!

I’m seeing this both sides of bumper and through both plastic and paint, this morning I noticed a quite a lot of road grit in the grilles thats why I believe it’s pick up from our uk roads.
Have check home security cameras and no sign of any animals, good point though.

Thanks

Doesn’t look like road damage. Looks like cleaning damage.

If you buff it and it goes away but comes back you aren't using the right product instead simply filling the imperfection and later washing it off. Need to use a minor cutting compound and cutting pad to clean the clear coat up.
