Carplay/voice text issue

Was listening to Spotify through Carplay & had Apple Maps navigation going for a 4 hour drive today. Whenever a text message would pop up, and I reply to it, the sound from the music would disappear. The song would keep playing and it would go on to the next song. The only way to get the music back was to hold the volume knob until the screen shut off and restarted. It did this every time I responded to a text. Anyone else experience this?
